Even hybrid monsters have their day

Chapter 257 A Prodigy, A Prodigy

Chapter 257 A Prodigy, A Prodigy

Although she tried her best to hide her shock, the initial look of surprise on her face still caught the attention of Qiu Pi, who had been watching her closely.

She really did know him!

Qiu Pi's lips curled up slightly, which to outsiders appeared as a gentle smile on his face as he looked at Geng Miaowan, a smile full of tolerance and doting.

"Is he the person you're talking about?" Geng Miaowan asked.

“Yes.” Qiu Pi looked at the young man walking towards him, raised his wine glass, shook it at him, and nodded in acknowledgment.

The man walked up to them arm in arm with a beautiful woman. "Hello, Qiu Dong. I didn't know you had this kind of taste." He clicked his tongue twice. "Well, after eating too much delicacies, you need to eat some wild game and vegetables occasionally to balance things out."

His voice was lazy and nonchalant, carrying a hint of cynicism. As he spoke, he looked Geng Miaowan up and down as if she were a worthless object.

He had short, jet-black hair, each strand standing up defiantly. His single-eyelid eyes, more alluring than any woman's, were slightly upturned, yet they didn't give him any effeminate air; instead, they added a unique charm to his appearance. He stared at Geng Miaowan without any restraint, a playful smile on his lips.

Geng Miaowan had already detected his disdain and sarcasm in his tone. She had already suppressed her initial surprise at seeing him, since it wasn't the first time she had seen him in other dimensions.

Qiu Pi still wore that gentle smile, seemingly oblivious to the sarcasm in Peng Yuxian's words. "I thought you weren't coming."

"Not coming?" The man raised an eyebrow. "Of course you want me not to come, so you can steal the spotlight."

His tone was extremely unfriendly, and even Geng Miaowan, an outsider, felt a little indignant on Qiu Pi's behalf. However, Qiu Pi smiled without caring at all, as if he were used to it.

Geng Miaowan was feeling indignant on Qiu Pi's behalf. A pair of fair, slender hands were extended in front of her. "Hello, charming lady, my name is Peng Yuxian." Although he used polite language, his tone clearly wasn't what it seemed.

"Hello, my name is Geng Miaowan, it's a pleasure to meet you." She ignored the disrespect in his words and extended her hand. However, before her hand could even touch his, he withdrew it. As if being touched by her would contaminate him with some germ, Geng Miaowan awkwardly withdrew her hand.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you too,” he said, then turned and walked away with the beautiful woman in his arms. After taking a couple of steps, he suddenly stopped, turned back to look at her, and gave her a dazzling smile. “I hope this isn’t the last time we meet.”

Xu Ruwen in his mind's eye exclaimed, "Wow, this guy's mutation is too thorough! He's a monster, a monster!"

Huangfu Aoxuan: "You've changed quite thoroughly too. I remember you weren't like this when I first met you."

These words struck a nerve with Xu Ruwen. He used to be so arrogant and overbearing; now, he could be content and amuse himself even while nestled within Geng Miaowan's consciousness. He scoffed, "What do you know? I call this keeping up with the times!"

Geng Miaowan: "..."

Watching Peng Yuxian quickly disappear into the crowd, Geng Miaowan reluctantly withdrew her gaze, wondering how she could get close to him and thwart his plan to overthrow human society if he truly was the person she was looking for.

Most importantly, how can she find out if he is really the one she's looking for...?

Seeing her staring blankly at Peng Yuxian's retreating figure, Qiu Pi teased, "What's wrong? Have you also become attracted to him?"

Geng Miaowan ignored the teasing in his words, her eyes still fixed on Peng Yuxian in the crowd, who was laughing and joking with people. As if sensing her gaze, his eyes inadvertently swept over her, sending a chill down her spine. "Is he really the person you're talking about?"

"You seem quite interested in this matter?" Qiu Pi asked instead of answering.

Just then, a robot waitress carrying a tray passed by them. She reached out and took a glass of juice from the tray, unconsciously shaking it in her hand. "I'm just a little curious, what kind of person is this that makes someone of your status hesitate?"

Qiu Pi stared at the dark red liquid in her hand, his eyes behind his glasses as deep and unfathomable as the darkest night. After a long pause, he finally spoke, "He is the owner of Arans Bioengineering Co., Ltd."

"Huh?" Geng Miaowan was stunned; this turn of events was a bit puzzling to her. "You're not..."

He said no more.

Seeing that although his smile was gentle, his expression was somewhat gloomy, Geng Miaowan did not ask any further questions.

Just then, a waiter came and called Qiu Pi away, saying that someone wanted to see him. Judging from the solemnity of his expression, it must be an important person. Geng Miaowan looked at the waiter, whose figure was well-covered and curvaceous, and once again marveled at the wonders of technology, which had created robots that looked exactly like humans.

She remembered how terrified she was when she first saw him in the hotel room reach into her stomach without hesitation and activate the device. Those who attended such banquets all had some personal agenda, and the vast majority were there to socialize. After Qiu Pi left, Geng Miaowan, an unknown figure, was naturally ignored.

Geng Miaowan didn't care about any of that. She found a seat by the window and began talking to Xu Ruwen and Huangfu Aoxuan in her mind. They were discussing the relationship between Qiu Pi and Peng Yuxian, and whether Peng Yuxian was indeed their target this time.

They discussed it for a long time, but couldn't come to a conclusion.

Her gaze drifted unconsciously out the window. The nights in this world were always monotonous, basically just black, an endless expanse of black. However, this city was somewhat different from the towns she had passed through before. Although there were no neon billboards, there were streetlights at every transportation hub, though not every street had streetlights.

Looking out from such a tall building, the streetlights cast shadows, like a long dragon winding its way out.

Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she stood up, her eyes filled with excitement as she stared at the streetlights. "How is this possible..." (To be continued.)
