Chapter 176: Rogue
Chapter 176: Rogue
The shopkeeper thought he had misheard. He looked at her clothes, then at the clothes of the woman next to her, and repeated, "These two gourds are both filled with wine worth 150 coins per pot, right?"
He was a little worried that the boy didn't have the money to pay. His shop was small and he didn't even have a clerk, so he was afraid of losing money.
Zhou Guo nodded, took out two strings of cash from his bag, and put them on the counter with a bang.
The shopkeeper turned around and went to get some wine without saying a word. There were two gourds that were so big, each one must hold more than two kilograms.
Most of the people drinking in the store were laborers. They would spend a few cents to buy a bowl of wine and taste it slowly. But when they saw Zhou Guo taking out so much money to buy the most expensive wine, and then two big gourds, claiming that they were going to fill them up, they were extremely envious. They had never tasted such good wine before, but it smelled so good.
"Okay, sir, the two gourds are full. Take a look for yourself. The total is two strings and two hundred and twenty coins. You have to give me two strings of twenty coins."
Zhou Guo took out the money, Li took it and looked at it, it was full, and nodded with satisfaction.
The two came out of the wine shop. Zhou Guo looked at the sky and saw that it was almost noon. He touched his stomach and said to Li: "Mom, let's go eat something."
"Okay, let's go buy some buns." Li nodded and turned around to go to the bun shop. It was a rare trip to the city, so she had to buy two buns for the child.
Zhou Guo held her back and said, "No, Mom, I can't be full with just one or two steamed buns. Let's go eat noodles. I want to eat noodles."
Last time she ate two steamed buns and a steamed bun, but she didn't feel anything after eating it. It felt like she had eaten nothing, and she still went back hungry. But she was embarrassed to eat more, because if she ate more, there would be nothing left for her family.
Li smiled and said, "Okay, I'll let you go eat noodles, but I don't know how many bowls you need to eat to be full."
Zhou Guo said: "It's okay, I'll go buy a few more sesame cakes and bring a few more back to eat."
The two of them pulled the ox cart to a small stall and tied the cart to the side of the road. There were many cars parked here and many people were eating noodles at the stall. Zhou Guo looked at so many people and thought that the food here must be good. "Mom, let's eat here."
Li had no objection. As long as her daughter felt it was fine, it was fine. "Then you wait here. I'll go buy some sesame cakes."
"Stall owner, two bowls of noodles." Zhou Guo said and was about to find a place to sit. After looking around, he found that there were no seats, so he had to stand and wait.
"Okay, sir, do you want meat or vegetables? Or eggs?"
Zhou Guo waved her hand and said, "No, I just want two bowls of vegetarian noodles." She still had to eat several bowls, so she couldn't afford to add those.
She stood obediently by the side waiting. She didn't know if it was because she was blocking the wind or what, but the aroma of noodles kept wafting towards her, rushing straight into her nose and into her forehead. She couldn't escape it even if she changed her position. She had no choice but to tiptoe to take a look. She saw a bowl of noodles covered with shredded pork, with two green vegetables floating on top, which made her appetite increase.
I couldn't help myself and pointed at the bowl of noodles and asked, "Stayer, how much is this bowl of noodles with meat?"
"Ten cents for meat, six cents for vegetables, eight cents for eggs."
She didn't know if there were six shredded pork or not, but they charged her four cents more, which was enough to buy a meat bun. "Give me two bowls of noodles with meat." She should try it, otherwise if she didn't get to eat it now, she would think about this bowl of noodles day and night when she went back.
"Okay, sir, wait a moment."
The noodles were not ready yet, but a table of people stood up and left after finishing their meal. She immediately sat over when she saw an empty space. As soon as she sat down, a man sat down opposite her. The man had shifty eyes and was dressed in rags, looking about the same as her. He kept looking her up and down with a malicious smile on his face.
Zhou Guo frowned slightly, it was really disgusting, she said lightly: "There is someone here."
The man on the other side laughed even harder after hearing this. "What's wrong with someone being here? I can't sit down just because someone is here? This isn't your restaurant. We are all guests. Anyone can sit down."
After saying that, he looked at her even more unscrupulously, without disguising at all. Zhou Guo looked down at her clothes, which were fine, still the beggar's clothes. She couldn't help but touch her hair, which still hadn't grown long, like a crew cut. People who didn't know her background mistook her for a boy when they went out.
The man opposite her wouldn't be crazy, she thought and said so, pointing at his head and said: "If you don't like it here, go home and stay. Don't come out and disgust others. Be careful of getting beaten."
"What did you say? Little thing, I'll let you see who has the worst brain later."
Zhou Guo turned her head and saw her mother coming over with a sesame seed bun not far away. She didn't have the patience to waste time with the people across the street and was about to change seats, but now two tables were empty, and the shop owner came with two bowls of noodles with shredded pork and placed one bowl in front of each person.
The man opposite took out his chopsticks and smiled at her. Zhou Guo was wondering what he was laughing at when he leaned over, stretched out his hand, and openly brought her noodles to himself, then picked up the chopsticks and began to eat with big mouthfuls.
Zhou Guo stood up in disdain, moved to an empty table, and said to the shop owner: "Stall owner, please serve me two bowls of noodles with meat quickly."
The stall owner turned around and said in surprise: "Hey, I'm here, both bowls are for you."
Zhou Guo pointed at the man who was eating heartily, "Both bowls were eaten by this guest."
"Aren't you guys together?"
Zhou Guo's face darkened, "Who is in cahoots with him?"
"Guoguo, what's wrong?" Li came over with a stack of oil-paper wrapped sesame cakes. She had only gone away to buy a cake, so why did she start quarreling with someone?
Zhou Guo shook his head and was about to say it was nothing.
The man at the opposite table saw the sesame cakes, his eyes lit up, he stood up, walked over and stretched out his hand to grab them from Li's arms, "That's right, eating the sesame cakes with them will make you more full."
Zhou Guo's expression changed, a frost suddenly appeared on her face, she kicked the bench beside her, and the bench hit the man's knee hard. The man immediately fell to the ground. She then stood up and took out a pair of chopsticks from the table. She approached him at lightning speed, clamped the man's wrist with the chopsticks, and with a force, there was a click and it broke.
Screams echoed throughout the street. “Ah, someone is killing someone, someone is killing someone in the street, oh, it hurts so much, it hurts so much.”
This man was obviously a scoundrel. Seeing that he couldn't get through by force, he simply fell to the ground and acted pitifully. This cry really attracted many people around. Zhou Guo stood up and walked towards Li. He stepped on the man's other finger where no one was paying attention and crushed it without leaving a trace.
"Ah!!" The man screamed like a pig being slaughtered, his heart was in pain.
Zhou Guo looked at him coldly, wishing she could cripple his hands. In broad daylight, he actually dared to reach into someone's arms to snatch. If he succeeded, losing the sesame cake would be a small matter. She was afraid that this guy would slander her mother without restraint. Thinking of this, she wished she could kill this bastard with a knife.
