Chapter 680: Greedy
Chapter 680: Greedy
Secretary Wang took the order and left. He returned to his seat and called the front desk extension: "Please ask Miss Jiawei to come up."
The receptionist hung up the phone, her professional smile a little more respectful: "Ms. Jiawei, Mr. Li wants you to go up. Mr. Li's office is on the 16th floor."
"Thank you." Li Jiawei nodded in thanks and walked into the elevator.
With a soft "ding" sound, the elevator door slowly opened. Secretary Wang was already waiting respectfully at the elevator door.
Li Jiawei walked out of the elevator, and Secretary Wang said respectfully: "Hello, Miss Jiawei, I am Mr. Li's secretary. Mr. Li asked me to pick you up."
Li Jiawei nodded and followed Secretary Wang to Li Yan's office.
Li Yan's office was at the end of the corridor to the left of the elevator. Secretary Wang opened the office door for Li Jiawei and gently closed it after she entered.
Li Yan stood up and looked at Li Jiawei, smiling, "Jiawei, you are a rare guest. Why did you suddenly come to the group? If you need me for something, just give me a call. You don't have to come here in person."
Li Jiawei looked at Li Yan's office. The black and white decoration exuded calmness and solemnity, and the space was much more spacious than her office at Universal Pictures.
She curled her lips and said, "Brother, I am not a guest here! Although I don't have many shares in the Li Group, I am still a small shareholder.
I always wanted to come here before, but I was always delayed by other things. Today I just happened to have time. "After a pause, she lowered her voice, "And, most importantly, some things can't be explained over the phone, so it's safer to talk about it in person."
When Li Yan heard Li Jiawei say this, the smile on his face froze for a moment, and then returned to normal: "Sit down first, what would you like to drink?"
"It's all right." Li Jiawei said casually while sitting on the sofa.
Li Yan pushed the filled celadon teacup in front of Li Jiawei: "My father gave me the Mingqian Longjing tea and asked me to taste it. You can try it too. Compared with your Huai'an tea, what is the difference?"
Li Jiawei picked up the teacup, lowered her eyes and took a sip. The bitterness of the tea spread on the tip of her tongue, but it tasted good: "Is there any difference? Huaian tea is affordable for everyone, and your cup..."
She looked up at the elegant celadon teapot and said with a hint of ridicule, "If you don't have a lot of money, you probably can't even smell it."
Li Yan was choked by Li Jiawei's words and laughed out loud. After calming down, he looked at her and said, "Your sharp tongue is becoming more and more unbearable."
At this point, Li Yan put away his joking expression and looked at Li Jiawei with burning eyes, "But I guess you didn't come here just to argue with me and drink tea, right?"
Li Jiawei pulled out a file bag from her handbag: "Of course not. I brought you something interesting."
Li Yan frowned slightly, his eyes fell on the file bag in Li Jiawei's hand: "Keep it a secret, what's in it?"
Li Jiawei handed the file bag to him: "It contains the things you are interested in. It is the bargaining chip for my negotiation with you today."
There was a hint of smile at the end of her voice, but it made Li Yan's throat tighten.
Li Yan looked at Li Jiawei's clear eyes for half a minute before reaching out to take the file bag.
The weight on his palm made his heart skip a beat, and a sense of foreboding ran down his spine.
Under Li Jiawei's quiet gaze, Li Yan paused for a moment in tearing open the sealing strip, and then opened the file bag as if nothing had happened.
Li Yan took out a thick stack of documents from his file bag, then opened it and looked down. With the sound of papers turning, his face turned from ashen to pale.
The knuckles of his hands holding the document turned pale. He suddenly raised his head, his scarlet eyes filled with anger. "Who gave you these?" The document was slammed heavily on the table, causing the tea in the cup to splash. "Are you trying to threaten me with this?"
Li Jiawei looked at Li Yan's suddenly tense jawline, and the corners of her lips rose unconsciously. The shock and anger in his eyes were just as she expected. It seemed that this usually calm elder brother was not the kind of person who would remain calm even when faced with a huge pressure.
"Brother, is this the time to worry about the source?" She stroked the cup wall with her fingertips, her voice lazily and nonchalant, "Why don't you guess how many zeros these evidences are worth?"
Li Yan took a deep breath and held the document tightly. He looked directly into Li Jiawei's eyes, his Adam's apple rolling: "With your current wealth, I know you came to me with this, not to talk about money. Tell me, what is your real purpose?"
"Remove all the hot searches for An Ling." Li Jiawei's answer was crisp and clear. She knocked the teacup heavily on the table, and the splashing water formed a stream on the wooden table. "Immediately, all over the Internet."
"Is that all you ask?" Li Yan frowned, looking at her in disbelief. "You went through so much trouble just for An Ling? A small editor-in-chief?"
Li Yan stared at the document in his hand. He didn't know whether to be glad or angry that Li Jiawei put him in the same position as An Ling.
If the document in his hand belonged to Li Jiawei, and he had such leverage, he would maximize the benefits instead of wasting it on such trivial matters.
"Don't try to guess what I'm thinking. An Ling is not only an editor-in-chief, she's also my partner and my friend." Li Jiawei's voice seemed to pierce the stagnant air.
She leaned forward, her eyes sharp as a knife, "I'm not like you. When doing something with only 30% cost, I will calculate 100% benefit. As long as all the hot searches about An Ling are removed, I can hand over the remaining evidence with both hands." She leaned back on the sofa, her eyes frank and almost provocative.
Li Yan sneered, his eyes swept across Li Jiawei's cold eyebrows, and suddenly the words "womanly kindness" popped up in his mind. Now he really wanted to thank Li Jiawei for her kindness.
"An Ling's affairs have nothing to do with me." He lowered his eyes and turned his watch, the cold light reflected from the metal dial reflected in his eyes.
"I know! The person on the stage is Liu Chengye, but he is just your puppet." Li Jiawei tapped the table with her fingertips: "Brother, I know everything you do."
Li Yan looked at Li Jiawei's provocative eyes, suppressed his anger, rubbed his throbbing temples with his hands, and suddenly laughed out loud.
But this smile is uglier than crying: "Jiawei, we are siblings, why do we have to force each other? In fact, I did those things because you forced me to do so. Xuanbao has already gone in, do we have to fight to the death?"
"Brother, if I had personally experienced this, I would really think that you are an upright person. But who started it first? At the beginning, I really respected you."
At this point, Li Jiawei stood up, looked directly at Li Yan and said, "Our current fight is not with me, but with you. The root cause is nothing more than your greed!"
