Chapter 2061 - 1044: One-Third Alice
Chapter 2061 - 1044: One-Third Alice
Dorothy was silent for a long time, and suddenly felt she really was stupid.
Staying up in the middle of the night instead of sleeping, running over to bother her sister just for that dumb little problem of her idiot younger sister—she’d been nervous for a while, and in the end the reason she got was actually something this ridiculous.
Alice, which slapstick movie set did you escape from?
She really was a bit too exhausted to even roast her.
That "gets hyper when people are around" personality is just like that; there’s never that much reason to it. One line, "I felt like it so I did it," and you’ve got nothing left to say.
Yeah, it’s like coming home from work and seeing your husky has torn up the brand-new couch you just bought. You’re furious inside, but then you see that dumb dog happily throwing itself into your arms, licking and rubbing up against you without a care in the world, and you’re instantly left speechless.
Honestly, there’s no point getting into a fight with an idiot; you’ll just wreck your own health.
Still, happiness is all about comparison. Dorothy thought about the Alice at home, then about the Cerberus her Good Sister had just described, and she suddenly felt that Alice was actually pretty well-behaved and sensible.
Yeah, she’d misunderstood Alice before; she’d thought that since three heads were down to one, of course she wouldn’t be that smart. But looking at it now, head count and IQ might not be related; those three heads’ IQs were probably calculated separately instead of stacking, so you didn’t get that "three cobblers beat Zhuge Liang" effect.
So as it stands, Alice’s IQ compared to Cerberus hasn’t really changed, but originally trouble was manufactured by three heads acting together. Now that those other two "Crouching Dragon and Young Phoenix" are gone, the remaining Alice is actually a lot more sensible and obedient.
"Sis, you’ve really had it rough."
Dorothy looked with some sympathy at her Good Sister in front of her, who was keeping a straight face and trying her best to keep her blood pressure under control, and said this.
"I’m used to it. Anyway, she wasn’t the only problem child back then."
Hearing her sister’s consolation, Denisha finally showed a smile, then waved her hand, not wanting to think about it anymore.
Only, all of a sudden, the two sisters fell silent together again.
"Ahem, I mean, Lord Divine King has really had it rough."
"Mm-hmm, that’s what I meant too."
The sisters added in unison.
Maybe it really was because that dumb dog comes with a lowering-IQ Halo; just thinking of her made the two unconsciously drop their guard. They got too chatty and almost forgot they hadn’t fully laid their cards on the table yet, and now were hurriedly trying to patch it up.
But after they both said that and looked at each other again, they were both done in by each other’s clumsy cover-up, and in the end the sisters both burst out laughing with a "pfft."
"Hahaha..."
"Hahaha..."
Seeing the two sisters laughing so hard they couldn’t straighten up, the others in the living-room-turned-waiting-room all quietly let out a breath.
Joan silently dispelled the Magic she’d prepared, Hat Senior Sister pretended she really was just a hat, and Yemengade was still faking sleep.
"Sis, then it doesn’t seem like Lord Divine King really needed to completely seal all records of Cerberus, right?"
It took Dorothy some effort to stop laughing before she continued to ask.
Rebellion really was a major crime, but once she thought of that absurd "reason for rebellion," the homebody witch just had that feeling of "if you take this seriously, you lose."
Of course, no matter what your reason is, once you’ve made a mistake you definitely have to be punished. If she were the one in Lord Divine King’s position, she’d also give that dumb dog little sister a harsh lesson, otherwise that thing would really never learn.
It’s just, this sort of thing isn’t really something that needs to be hidden away. It really hadn’t reached the point where even the records had to be completely sealed.
On this point, the homebody witch was a bit curious why her Good Sister had done that in the first place.
"If Cerberus had actually been subdued, then yeah, no need to go that far. Just lock her up in solitary for tens of thousands of years and call it a day. But the problem is that thing slipped away and is still full of bad ideas even now, so naturally we can’t let her story keep circulating. Otherwise, with her Strength, no one can say what other moth tricks she might pull off."
Denisha spoke with a bit of tiredness.
"It’s still my fault... ahem, I mean it’s Lord Divine King’s fault for not being ruthless enough back then. For Lilith’s sake, even though that Cerberus thing rebelled, she didn’t go straight for the kill, and that gave that crafty thing the chance to save herself by cutting off a head."
"Save herself by cutting off a head?"
Dorothy scratched her head too. She’d only ever heard of lizards dropping their tails to escape, and never imagined there’d be such a fancy move as "dropping a head to survive."
Seeing her sister’s confusion, Miss Shepherdess began to explain.
"That Cerberus thing’s three heads represent her three different kinds of Strength. One head is the Strength of the Vampire Clan, one head is the Strength of the witch, and the last head is the Strength of the Werewolf."
"Back then she decisively abandoned the head representing the witch, then escaped from Lord Divine King’s hands, hiding herself away in the Abyss. If Lord Divine King wanted to drag her back, she’d have to make a trip into the Abyss, and that would mean witches and the Abyss would inevitably have to fight a war. That would be just what that dumb dog wanted."
"So Lord Divine King simply couldn’t be bothered to chase her. She just handed the captured head over to Lilith, and later that head reincarnated into the little sister you have now, Alice."
Dorothy: "....."
Nice, so she was actually playing strategy now, huh? Incredible. Looks like back when there were three heads she did have a bit of crafty smarts.
Even if just a tiny bit, not much.
Cerberus abandoned the head that represented the witch’s Strength, which meant she’d given up her identity as a witch. That two-headed dog that fled into the Abyss was already a bona fide Great Demons.
