Chapter 318 Yunyi's Hatred
Chapter 318 Yunyi's Hatred
The evening breeze carried a slight chill as Lin Yue walked home alone, her mind not as light as her steps.
"This is so troublesome, why did it have to be like this?" she muttered to herself, rubbing her temples. She just wanted to study in peace and quiet, why did things have to become so complicated?
She didn't mind Li Yuetian's approach, but Yun Yi's reaction made it impossible for her to ignore him.
Meanwhile, on the second floor of the coffee shop, Li Yuetian stood by the window, watching Lin Yue's somewhat lonely figure disappear around the corner on the street below, his expression complex. He took out his phone and dialed his sister's number.
"Hello? My dear little brother, why are you calling your sister at this hour? Do you miss me?" Li Yuejiao's lazy, smiling voice came through the receiver.
“Sister,” Li Yuetian’s voice sounded slightly aggrieved, which Li Yuejiao immediately noticed. “I feel… I upset her again.” He briefly recounted what had just happened, focusing on Yun Yi’s intense reaction and Lin Yue’s eventual departure.
Li Yuejiao listened quietly on the other end of the phone, her fingertips lightly tapping the table, a knowing smile on her face. After Li Yuetian finished speaking, she chuckled softly, "Oh? So her cousin just got angry? What about Lin Yue? What was her reaction?"
“She…stopped Yun Yi, and then said she would go back first.” Li Yuetian recalled Lin Yue’s expression at the time, carefully choosing his words, “She seemed a little agitated, or maybe embarrassed.”
"Tsk, silly little brother." Li Yuejiao's tone was teasing and condescending. "I know Lin Yue better than you do. She's indifferent and seems to care about nothing, but actually, the way you explain things, while it sounds a bit aggressive, might not be a bad thing for her."
She paused, then lowered her voice: "In my opinion, she might not actually dislike what you're doing. In fact... she might even be a little taken in by it. Think about it, if she really hated it, given her personality, she would have ignored you long ago. Why would she listen to you finish speaking or even apologize for taking up your time? She just didn't follow the train of thought, was a little annoyed, and felt that she had caused the conflict, so she wanted to get away from the scene as soon as possible. This shows that she does care."
Li Yuetian held his phone, listening silently. His sister's words were like a ray of light, illuminating his somewhat confused mind.
"So... what do you mean, sis?"
"What I mean is, the direction is right, but you need to be careful about the degree and the occasion," Li Yuejiao said, offering her "experience" with an air of wisdom. "Be a little assertive, show your ability and confidence, that will attract her. But don't go overboard, especially when there are outsiders around, young girls also have their pride. Her cousin is a bit of a problem, but don't worry, I'll help you. But then again, you can't force feelings, I can only help you create opportunities, whether it works out or not is up to you two. If it really doesn't work out, don't be too upset, okay?"
"Okay, I understand, sis. Thanks." Li Yuetian's mood eased considerably. "By the way, Mom seemed to be talking about you over the weekend. Are you coming home for dinner?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Of course I'll go back! I miss my parents too!" Li Yuejiao replied with a smile, then gave a few more instructions before hanging up.
Putting down his phone, Li Yuetian took a deep breath, feeling the tightness in his chest dissipate considerably. He looked out the window, his gaze hardening once more.
Over the next few days, Li Yuetian adjusted his strategy. At school, he remained Lin Yue's polite but distant deskmate, occasionally turning around to discuss issues.
This made Lin Yue relax a little. With the invisible pressure reduced, she was more able to accept Li Yuetian's occasional accurate guidance.
The conflict seemed to have passed. On Friday afternoon, as soon as the school bell rang, the students poured out of the classroom like a tide. Li Yuetian packed his schoolbag, turned around naturally, and rested his elbow on the edge of Lin Yue's desk.
"Lin Yue, are you free this weekend?" His voice wasn't loud, just enough so that the students around him wouldn't hear it, but it didn't seem too deliberate either.
Lin Yue was unzipping her backpack when she heard this. She looked up with a questioning look in her eyes.
"There's a new sci-fi movie out recently, and the reviews seem pretty good," Li Yuetian casually invited, as if it were just a normal classmate request. "Want to go see it together?"
Not far away, Yun Yi and Jiang Feifei were walking over together, preparing to call Lin Yue to go to the coffee shop. Upon hearing this, Yun Yi froze in place, his smile stiffening, and his eyes piercing like knives as he looked at Li Yuetian's back.
It is him again!
Lin Yue shook her head slightly without much thought: "Watching a movie? I'm not interested, thank you." She really disliked crowded, noisy, enclosed spaces, after all, she fell asleep during the last movie.
Despite being flatly rejected, Li Yuetian showed no sign of defeat. As if he had expected it, he readily switched to another option: "How about going to that newly opened shopping mall? I heard there are many interesting bookstores there, and it should be much quieter than the movie theater." He remembered that Lin Yue liked quiet and being alone.
Sure enough, Lin Yue hesitated for a moment. Shopping, especially in bookstores and creative product shops, was indeed more appealing to her than watching movies. She nodded: "Hmm, that's fine."
“Okay, then let’s meet at the school gate at 10 a.m. on Saturday?” Li Yuetian quickly finalized the time and place.
"Okay," Lin Yue replied, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
"Okay, see you tomorrow." Li Yuetian smiled, then got up and left. As he passed Yun Yi, he seemed not to notice Yun Yi's unpleasant expression at all. He simply nodded politely and walked out of the classroom.
Yun Yi was so angry that his teeth itched, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked, wishing he could rush up and punch that always calm and collected face.
This guy definitely did it on purpose!
Jiang Feifei looked at Yun Yi with concern and gently tugged at his sleeve: "Brother Yun Yi, don't be angry... Senior sister probably just wanted to go for a walk..."
"Go shopping? What's the point of shopping with a guy like that!" Yun Yi lowered his voice, his tone sharp. "Look at him! He's clearly up to no good! And Sister Lin Yue, why did she agree to him!" A sense of unease, as if his territory had been invaded, made him extremely uncomfortable.
Seeing him lose his composure over another girl, Jiang Feifei felt a pang of sadness, but she still tried to comfort him, saying, "Maybe...maybe Senior really just wanted to go shopping? Brother Yunyi, let's go study too?" She tried to divert his attention and hoped he would pay more attention to her.
But at this moment, Yun Yi's mind was filled with images of Li Yuetian and Lin Yue going shopping alone on the weekend, and he couldn't hear anything anyone said. With a dark face, he muttered, "I'm not going today, I'm annoyed!" After saying that, he didn't wait for Jiang Feifei and strode away.
Jiang Feifei watched his angry back as he walked away, then stood there dejectedly and sighed softly.
