Chapter 146 Going Home
Chapter 146 Going Home
"Trinity, stop picking your nose. I mean all your fingers, including the fingers of your other clones."
Teddy, you look cute walking with your chest out, but remember to watch where you're going! You almost tripped twice already.
Athena, please remember not to make my parents suspicious, okay?
Maple leaves... um, don't be afraid to say hello to Mom and Dad, okay?
She came up with that last sentence on the spot. It wouldn't be good if she gave instructions to all the other sisters but had nothing to say to Maple Leaf.
However, despite Maple Leaf's impressive abilities, she is the quietest of the sisters, a fact for which Sienna is deeply grateful.
She and her group of mischievous sisters were walking towards Miss Hydeson's house.
This kind teacher said she wouldn't mind using her home as a meeting place for Sienna and her parents, and that she was already used to dealing with Sienna's sisters.
Besides, it's good for the girls to come here to play instead of attend classes, and it's also good for Steffi. Steffi likes these girls quite a bit, even though they always cause her a lot of trouble.
Sienna guessed that Heather (Miss Hydeson) was mainly pleased because her sisters had brought a near-normal atmosphere to Steffi's life.
The girl's only companion is her mother, which isn't so bad, but she does need to make some decent friends, and Sienna's sisters could be considered friends, even though they are the kind of "negative influence" type of friends.
“Okay, we need to cross the street,” Sienna said. “That means…”
“We need to look at both sides,” Athena said.
“Grab the boss’s hand,” Teddy said quickly, grabbing Sienna’s right hand before anyone else could reach out.
“Play dead,” Trinity said.
“That last one won’t do,” Sienna said. “Okay, everyone hold one of the sisters’ hands, yes, that’s it.”
"No, Trinity, you have to hold onto all three of your clones." Once everyone was secured, she exaggeratedly looked left and right, then waited for a car to drive by, even though they probably had plenty of time to cross the street before the car arrived.
This is a matter of principle. Besides, if any girl trips or gets into trouble, she has to pull her hand away, stop, help the girl up, and then run back to safety.
She held back her sigh. Crossing the street recklessly used to be a small mistake she easily made.
A familiar car was parked in front of Miss Hydeson's house; it was her mother's old car, not her father's pickup truck.
She checked her sisters one last time, brushed off any lint from their skirts, and then went to Mrs. Hydeson's front door and told Teddy to ring the doorbell (only once), because it was her turn this time.
The door opened, and it was the teacher who opened it, along with Sienna's mother. "Hi," she greeted them.
They entered the house one by one, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then quickly hugged each other. After their mother hugged Sienna, all the sisters clamored for a hug, even the usually shy Maple Leaf came over and quietly raised her arms.
“Come on in, your dad’s in the living room,” Mom said.
Sienna nodded and followed her mother. She didn't know why she felt a little uneasy. Her father was one of the kindest people she knew.
Dad stood in the living room. He was tall and a little overweight, holding a plate of triangular sandwiches in one hand. Although they had made quite a commotion when they came in, he still looked a little surprised.
“Sienna,” he said, placing the plate on the coffee table and then smiling as he opened his arms.
Sienna stepped forward and tried her best to hug her father back, but her father was more than a head taller than her, so it was more like he wrapped her up than hugged her.
"So, these are my new daughters, huh?" he asked.
“Hey, old man,” Teddy said, giving Sienna the kind of first impression she didn’t want others to have.
Dad laughed. "You must be Teddy, right? Come here." He knelt down on one knee, but even so, he was still taller than his sisters.
The introduction went surprisingly smoothly.
Each of the sisters received a hug and a comforting pat on the head, and Trinity secretly took a piece of his triangular sandwich and started eating it there without him saying anything.
"Hey!" Steffi entered the house in his wheelchair. "You're here!"
“Girls, the adults need to talk. Why don’t you all go play in Steffi’s room? But don’t leave the room, okay? Remember the rules?” Heather said.
Before long, this large group of girls, along with Steffi, noisily and busily made their way through the house to Steffi's room.
“These kids are quite adorable,” the father said confidently.
Sienna felt a weight lifted from her heart. "Yes, they can be quite well-behaved when they want to."
Dad nodded. "How are you doing?" he asked.
"It's pretty good," she said.
Dad nodded again and didn't ask any more questions. He always believed what she said, and he never beat around the bush when he spoke.
"Are you sure, honey?" Mom asked. "You already have so many things to worry about, and now there's Maple Leaf too. Isn't that just adding to your burden?"
“It’s not that bad,” Sienna said. “We’ve kept a low profile, and with Sam’s help, we’ve started to make some money.”
We're working on advertising, so I've started looking for somewhere else to live. The dorm is too small for all of us.
“That’s good,” Mom said. “So you haven’t been doing anything dangerous, have you?” she asked.
Sienna thought for a moment about how to answer, then decided to tell a white lie. "No."
"In that case, honey, how did you end up on the news?" Mom asked, pointing behind Sienna.
Sienna turned around and saw the television showing footage of herself and her sisters near the warehouse where she had rescued Alea. The headline read, "A Daring Rescue from the Villain's Hideout!"
“Uh, well, I can explain,” she tried to say.
