Chapter 164 Beth and Jimmy Dobson
Chapter 164 Beth and Jimmy Dobson
Hershel was a little nervous. If Zhou Nan and his gang were robbers, he would have no way to stop them and could only watch them do whatever they wanted.
Fortunately, Zhou Nan and the others were not like that. Zhou Nan would not rob good people. Instead, he kept comforting the old man Hershel, which also made Beth and Maggie feel relieved.
Hershel looked at the sixty or so people behind Zhou Nan with a troubled expression, "Zhou Nan, you have too many people. Our farm may not be able to sustain so many people."
If we really have to supply it, the cattle and sheep on the farm will be in trouble.
Zhou Nan's response dispelled Hershel's doubts, "Don't worry about this. We brought food, and you don't have to worry about where to stay. They will find a place on their own."
In the end, Hershel did not let Zhou Nan and his group choose to suffer the cold outside. This old man looked stubborn and seemed difficult to approach, but in fact he had a kind heart.
"My farm can take in some of you, and the rest can go to the farm next door. It's an empty farm because the original owner has moved away, but there are many houses there, so it should be able to accommodate you."
Zhou Nan nodded to Hershel, then gave orders to the two groups of people behind him.
"Go look at other farms. If they have seeds and livestock, negotiate with the farmers. The rest of you can go to the slaughterhouse and see if there's any leather. Grandma Anya said she needs the leather to make leather armor for you."
Everyone understood what Zhou Nan meant. In this apocalyptic world, who would choose to negotiate with the owner? It was just an excuse Zhou Nan made up because he was afraid of scaring the Hershel family. If they found that the supplies had no owner, they could just load them into the truck.
As Zhou Nan continued to arrange work, everyone started to get busy.
Rick Sean went to the farm next door to check if it was safe, while Lori and some other women in charge of logistics went to clean up the house.
Some of the guys drove a truck to the farm next door and loaded the truck with anything they could find. Zhou Nan had a vivid memory of the scene of him ransacking Woodbury, and they all followed his example.
Scythes, livestock troughs, feed threshing machines... anything useful was loaded into the car.
Beth looked at Zhou Nan curiously. It was hard for her to imagine that a young man who looked like herself could lead such a group of people. It was really incredible.
Feeling Beth's gaze on him, Zhou Nan smiled back at Beth, which made Beth feel that Zhou Nan was a very kind person.
Beth also said to Zhou Nan: "Zhou Nan, you can actually manage such a large team. Have you studied management?"
Glenn glanced at Maggie and said quickly, "Zhou Nan is amazing! Even if you gave him ten times as many people, he would still be able to manage everything perfectly!"
But after he finished speaking, he saw that Maggie was still focusing on Zhou Nan and didn't even look at him, and he felt frustrated.
In fact, Maggie had already noticed Glenn's behavior out of the corner of her eye. He was just trying to attract her attention, just like many men who tried to pursue her during college.
Glenn looked clumsy, though, which amused Maggie a little.
Zhou Nan stopped Glenn from boasting about himself and said, "I can't get to where I am now without everyone's help."
This made Hershel nod repeatedly. He did not deny his own abilities, but valued the efforts of others. He was proud but not stupid or arrogant. This gave Hershel a good impression of Zhou Nan.
As young people, Zhou Nan has achieved something, while Beth has nothing, which makes Beth admire Zhou Nan very much.
It seems that Beth is more of a good girl than Maggie, but in fact, it is not the case. This can be seen from the fact that both of them are looking for boyfriends.
Maggie looks very bold, has a hot body and is very opinionated. Not long after getting along with Glenn, she had sex with Glenn while looking for medicine, giving people a very unstable feeling.
The men of the right age at the time were Sean, Glenn, and Daryl, but she finally chose Glenn, an honest man who always worked hard for the team and was steady in his work. It was obvious that Glenn had a blank love life and was not very worldly-wise.
Beth is the complete opposite of her sister Maggie. She looks very pure. Cute, beautiful and harmless are her labels. Her figure is not that good, but she has a rich love history.
From her boyfriend Jimmy on the farm, to Zack in prison, to Darryl who depended on her during the escape.
The characteristics of these people are very obvious. Jimmy is a pretty boy with good looks; Zack is smooth-talking and popular with girls; Daryl has a complicated background and mysterious experiences that make Beth feel more novel and challenged.
Compared to Maggie, it turns out that Beth is the wild girl, but there is no derogatory meaning in this. Beth is very loyal in her relationships, but she just acts a little more "wildly".
Jimmy Dobson, who was standing on the side, felt uncomfortable when he saw Beth looking at Zhou Nan with such admiration. He said to Beth, "Beth, it's cold outside. Let's go back."
Hershel looked a little unhappy when he heard this. Jimmy had always behaved well, so why couldn't he distinguish priorities today?
If Zhou Nan misunderstood and thought that they did not value him, then they would all be in trouble.
Hershel's mind raced, trying to find a suitable excuse to explain this matter.
Beth said to Zhou Nan apologetically, "I'm sorry, don't take Jimmy's words to heart. Why don't you go sit inside? It's really cold outside."
Jimmy Dobson secretly tugged at Beth's arm, signaling her not to invite Zhou Nan.
Zhou Nan smiled when he saw Jimmy's little gesture. "It's okay, Miss Beth, you don't need to apologize to me. Go and do whatever you need. Your father and I will be here to discuss the acquisition."
After Zhou Nan finished speaking, Hershel also invited Zhou Nan, saying: "It's really cold outside, why don't we go inside first and talk, you can also take a break."
Jimmy Dobson looked at Hershel with an ugly expression, but because Hershel was his future father-in-law, he dared not say anything and could only stand aside feeling aggrieved.
Zhou Nan also ignored Jimmy's frustrated look and readily agreed to Hershel's invitation, "Okay, sorry to bother you, let's go over and sit down first."
Seeing that the matter was settled, Jimmy ignored Beth's slight struggle and pulled Beth away. Beth couldn't break free and could only turn back and look at everyone apologetically.
Zhou Nan waved his hand, signaling Beth to leave without worry. Beth looked at Zhou Nan's kind expression and felt more guilty.
After they walked away, Beth stared at the back of Jimmy's head with a look of dissatisfaction. "Jimmy, what on earth are you doing? Zhou Nan's acquisition of this place is a big deal. It won't do us any good if it fails!"
Hershel was originally reluctant to sell the farm, but he finally gave in. If Jimmy really messed up the deal, Beth would have wanted to kill Jimmy. She felt as much pain for her father Hershel as for her sister Maggie.
Jimmy responded somewhat stiffly: "This is not the place to talk. Come home with me first, and I will talk to you when we get back."
On the other side, Hershel felt extremely troubled when he saw Beth and Jimmy leaving first. His daughter was extremely stubborn. Once she made up her mind to something, no one could change her mind even with ten cows.
He really disliked the reckless Jimmy, but because of his daughter's personality, Hershel had no good solution and could only acquiesce.
Hershel looked at Zhou Nan who was smiling beside him, and his eyes lit up.
"This guy has money, connections, and a very stable personality. He's much better than Jimmy."
"If his character is reliable, entrusting Beth to him would be a good decision. It's much better than giving that reckless Jimmy a chance."
Thinking of this, Hershel looked at Zhou Nan with a kinder look. He motioned Zhou Nan to get on the horse and said, "Come on, young man, let's go back too."
