Chapter 4: Li Wei Starts to Stir Up Trouble
Chapter 4: Li Wei Starts to Stir Up Trouble
Amidst the wailing of sirens, Li Wei, wrapped in a blanket, sat on the ground by the roadside.
A sniper with the "Delta Force" insignia on his sleeve was holding an intact SR-25 and boasting to the sheriff in charge of the scene about his glorious achievement of taking down three robbers with three shots.
Then, he added somewhat discontentedly.
"Those three guys do have some military skills, but sending me, one of the top snipers in Delta Force, is just too much of a risk for those office workers."
Li Wei remained noncommittal to his boasting, instead gazing into the distance.
The pregnant woman at risk of miscarriage and the elderly man with a broken leg, who were both frightened, have been taken away by ambulance.
The security guard, who claimed to have a "lower back injury," argued with the doctor that he was not injured and therefore only intended to pay for the "taxi" fare, not the "diagnosis" fee.
The bank employee then showed off her carefully made-up face to the camera and said something.
"Mom! I'm going to be famous! And Boris, you heartless bastard! You'll regret this!"
Li Wei is thinking.
Based on the "facts" he witnessed firsthand, he was basically certain that his "time" had been reset by the system.
Moreover, the system seems to have thoughtfully patched up the "loophole"—his existence in the entire bank robbery was erased; he was merely a terminally ill patient who was implicated, nothing more.
Therefore, Li Wei couldn't help but wonder what the meaning was of all the things he had done before.
Li Wei took out his brand-new, but cheap and ugly C9 and examined it.
Thirty-two bullets, not one missing.
The gun is now like him; the things they did together are not "in the past," but rather never happened at all.
At that moment, Li Wei had his answer.
Pointless.
But then, the system suddenly popped up.
There is only one perfect crime in this world—a crime that has not yet occurred.
Now, it's time to find some new fun.
[Mission: Gangs are a unique cultural phenomenon in America. It's time to add some of Levi's personal flair to this culture—go ahead and build your Levi Gang.]
[Reward: 1 hour of base health, with bonuses based on mission completion rating.]
The system seemed to have adjusted its style to accommodate him, but Li Wei felt that the other party was becoming more and more like a "person with intellectual disabilities".
Li Wei has no interest in bullying "disabled people," but he also has no intention of fulfilling any unreasonable demands from "disabled people."
As I said before, he has his own rhythm.
one two Three……
Li Wei started counting the number of people present, but he gave up when he counted to "twenty-three".
It's meaningless to get the data down to the last digit; let's make a rough estimate: seventy or eighty people.
This kind of rough data is sufficient.
Now he felt that what he needed to do was very clear—since seventy or eighty people was not the limit of the system, then what about seven or eight hundred people, or even seven or eight thousand people?
Let's do something big!
This was Li Wei's plan.
But what big thing are they planning?
Robbing Fort Knox, America's largest gold vault...
The moment this thought popped into his mind, Li Wei felt as if he had been infected with the "becoming stupid" disease by the system.
Putting aside the fact that the place was so heavily guarded that he couldn't even get within two kilometers of it, just considering the idea itself, why did he have to go through with robbery?
Just then, the bank clerk exclaimed, giving Li Wei a sudden, enlightening feeling.
"Oh my god! I recognize that logo on the camera! You guys are 7 News! Can I see myself all over South Florida now?"
Live on TV! Across South Florida! Prime time at 6 PM!
There were definitely more than 70,000 people in front of the TV!
Li Wei smiled instantly, got up, pulled off the blanket, brushed off the dust from under his bottom, raised his hands, and shouted.
"Dear friends from the media! Please look at me! I have an important announcement to make!"
Reporters carrying "long guns and short cannons" immediately abandoned the bank employees and swarmed over.
Five or six microphones were shoved almost instantly into Li Wei's mouth.
"Were you sitting silently by the roadside because you were threatened by some officials and forced to keep quiet?"
"Those robbers clearly had military backgrounds. Were they veterans without any means of livelihood?"
"Is this a conspiracy by the Seres?"
A group of reporters chattered away, spouting conspiracy theories, stereotypes, dog-whistle politics... a barrage of stupid questions that seemed to have been asked without any thought, solely for the sake of ratings.
But even the system can't change Li Wei's rhythm, let alone these unscrupulous media outlets.
So, Li Wei clapped his hands politely, and after attracting the attention of all the media, he put forward his demands.
"Please make way for me before you announce it, I have something to do."
The media immediately made way, and Li Wei walked through the crowd, heading straight for the Delta Sniper who was still boasting, and without warning, punched him in the nose with a jab.
"Hey! You bastard! You damn lunatic! I just saved your life!"
Everyone at the scene was stunned, except for the sniper who was cursing and whose nose had started to bleed.
No, there's also Li Wei.
He raised his hands again and shouted.
"I hereby declare! The 'Lee Wei Gang' will be responsible for this attack and bank robbery! And I myself am Lee Wei!"
Li Wei's words were like setting off a firework in the crowd; the moment it "exploded," it caused enormous chaos.
The sniper stood there dumbfounded, unsure how to react.
Reporters swarmed towards Li Wei, and several shorter people were even knocked to the ground.
The sheriff shouted for officers to come and restore order to the chaotic situation.
The bank employee somehow managed to squeeze through the crowd of reporters, grabbed Li Wei, kissed him, and then shouted.
"I'm his girlfriend! I can answer any questions he has!"
As for Li Wei himself, who had just been taken advantage of... he squatted down and pretended to tie his shoelaces, then pulled the hood over his head and sneaked out of the crowd.
After he slipped out of the cordon, ignoring the shouts of "Where did that person go!" behind him, he slipped into an alley, passed through two buildings, and entered another neighborhood.
In the window of a secondhand appliance store by the roadside, there was a large, bulky television displaying extremely chaotic images through a somewhat blurry, grainy screen.
"The suspected terrorist group 'Lee Wei Gang' has claimed responsibility for the bank robbery. 7 News reporter Sofia is on the scene reporting!"
The reporter had barely finished speaking when she was pushed to the ground, and a high heel flashed by on the television screen.
"Wow! This is such a mess!"
Li Wei scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.
At this moment, the system, which had been silent for a long time, finally responded.
[Task Rating: A (6x Bonus)]
[Task Evaluation: I retract my evaluation. You're not just "like a lunatic," you're a complete, uncompromising, utterly insane lunatic!]
【But you're uniquely crazy! I admire you! You fucking win! I'm not cleaning up your mess anymore! Good luck, you bastard!】
[Reward distribution: 1 hour * 6]
"this one?"
Li Wei's tone was full of disdain, and even a little bit of disappointment—he thought he had found an interesting "toy".
Ignoring the breached system, Li Wei decided to get something to eat.
It wasn't to relieve his mood or celebrate a victory; he was simply hungry.
Yes, he has always done things his own way.
