Chapter 9 Inventors
Chapter 9 Inventors
Chen Wang was also thinking of sharing his current situation, imagining that Haozi would be absolutely shocked to hear that he had joined the dispatch center.
But Haozi talked on and on, determined to pour out all the joys and sorrows of his vacation over the past few days.
"My idiot neighbor gets up every night to do a live stream, keeping everyone awake..."
"There's this lady at Bida Logistics who's made enough money but hasn't retired yet. She lives a carefree life every day with her A-level delivery driver title. When will I be able to be like that...?"
"And that inventor, he made a bunch of gadgets, barely making ends meet, I don't know what he was after..."
Chen Wang ate his stir-fried eggs with chives in large mouthfuls, perfunctorily listening to Haozi's words.
It must be said that the dishes in Hongcheng are fresh and delicious. Time Rain has done a good thing by solving the problem of food for all mankind.
Wait, didn't Haozi say "inventor"?
Suddenly, Xiong Jian's fawning smile appeared in his mind: "That inventor in Hongcheng really has a lot of free time, tinkering with these little toys all day long."
He put down his chopsticks, gulped down a few mouthfuls of iced wheat drink, and quickly interrupted Haozi's deadly rhythm.
How many inventors are there in Rainbow City?
Haozi, whose spellcasting had been interrupted, looked up, thought seriously for a moment, and said, "One."
Chen Wang asked in confusion, "Such a big place, and there's only one?"
"Yeah, he's the only one who claims to be an inventor." Haozi took a sip of his drink. "There are plenty of real scientists, though, all in research institutes within the first ring road."
He meant that the inventor's name is simply "Inventor," both online and offline.
Chen Wang thought to himself, "This person is really strange."
"Actually, the good news I want to tell you also concerns this inventor. The reason I know him is because his electronic dog went missing once..."
That time, the inventor unusually posted a lost and found request. Haozi, quick-witted and nimble-fingered, immediately accepted the order.
After that, the two became friends.
As he spoke, Haozi pulled a notebook out of his pocket.
"He doesn't have many friends and rarely makes requests, so it was natural for him to want to give this order to me..."
Chen Wang took the notebook, opened the leather cover, and found only a few lines of neat writing inside.
The gist of it is that this reclusive inventor, through the chiral network, found the materials he needed on the surface, so he called Haozi over and handed him the notebook through the window in front of the door.
"Are you getting private jobs?" Chen Wang asked. "Why not just issue a commission?"
Haozi explained that the material was called a special alloy, which only circulated within the official system.
Even if there is a delivery order, the person who initiates it represents the Hongcheng government; individual residents cannot post orders.
"Retrieving the materials isn't the problem, the problem is how to load them," Haozi said, scratching his head. "I don't have a vehicle."
Just as Chen Wang was about to ask more questions, Haozi revealed the truth: "I probably exaggerated to him, saying that I was more capable than he imagined, and he believed me and said that we should cooperate for a long time."
After finishing their meal, the two strolled through the streets.
"I can help you," Chen Wang said.
Haozi was quite touched.
Having known each other for so long, he knew Chen Wang was quite capable, just lacking a platform to showcase his abilities. After all, achieving an S rating on his first project already made him a very talented newcomer.
But I still can't betray my own brothers.
"I appreciate your kind offer, but you can't move this special alloy on your own."
"I should be able to handle it," Chen Wang said. "Actually, the order I delivered wasn't under your delivery uniform, and it wasn't handled by Bida Logistics, otherwise it would have been discovered long ago."
"Oh right." Haozi suddenly realized.
"It's for the Superpower Dispatch Center," Chen Wang said casually. "I'm already a full-time employee there."
"You mean you're a superhuman?" Haozi was caught off guard by Chen Wang's sudden joke and couldn't help but laugh.
Chen Wang was too lazy to waste words. He glanced around and saw that no one was paying attention to him.
Suddenly, he picked up Haozi and started doing standard squats.
Haozi: "?"
Amid Haozi's terror, Chen Wang quickly did a dozen or so, then put him down without even catching his breath.
Haozi knew this was a test of his ability; how could an ordinary person lift him up like a toy and make him squat?
His eyes widened, pupils almost popping out of their sockets: "We've known each other for half our lives, and now you're telling me you're a superhuman?!"
Chen Wang said with a serious face, "To be honest, I only discovered this recently. You know how it is with potential."
The seemingly perfect answer convinced Haozi completely.
Will I become a superhuman someday?
At least now he can entrust the inventor's orders to Chen Wang to complete, which can be considered as preserving his reputation in the delivery industry.
The two went to an internet cafe again, reliving the passion of their student days. In the midst of their intense game, Haozi still fantasized: Chen Wang's skill is Strongman, which must belong to the Mountain type, so what will my future superpower be…?
As the simulated sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow, the two then returned to their respective homes.
Haozi will inform the inventor that the order has been transferred to his friend Chen Wang, and he will set off on a chosen date.
The problem is that Haozi is about to start work, so he can no longer borrow work clothes, and Chen Wang himself doesn't have a uniform. What should they do?
The next morning, he received a delivery call from Bida Logistics.
"The goods have been delivered and left at the door."
He rubbed his sleepy eyes and opened the door, only to bump into the neighbor across the street.
"Uh, hi."
Out of politeness, Chen Wang waved and greeted him.
The other person was a woman with her black hair tied up, wearing half-rimmed glasses, and with makeup that perfectly suited her figure.
She wore a fitted office suit, but her face was expressionless, and her eyelashes were slightly curled.
He glanced at Chen Wang, then went inside and locked the door.
Chen Wang stood there blankly, only able to hear the clattering of heels inside the room.
This is probably the confidence of this type of woman. Chen Wang shook his head speechlessly and carried the cargo box into the house.
Unboxing!
Upon opening the cargo box, there was another layer of sealed waterproof adhesive.
Cut off the waterproof tape, and you'll find a very elegant black gift box.
A thickened protective suit lay quietly inside.
Chen Wang's surprise was palpable. He picked up the clothes and examined them carefully.
The black and gray one-piece design has space left on the outside of the arms and legs for placing shelves.
It's lined with plenty of absorbent cotton, presumably because they know their clothes are thicker than regular ones, so they've made a balance.
Chen Wang put it on and felt it for a moment.
Aside from getting heat rash in the summer, the experience is far superior to renting uniforms from the dispatch center.
My phone rang, and Haozi's message arrived unexpectedly:
"Chen Wang, congratulations on becoming a superhuman, and congratulations on finally finding a job."
"I told you long ago that you could definitely do it. You grew up in Hongcheng alone, and you are more capable than anyone I know."
"Consider this protective suit a gift for you, so please accept it! Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever given you anything before. At least when I was 18, you bought me a cup."
"Be careful, don't overexert yourself, take it one step at a time... Remember to stay within the chiral network's coverage area, you know what I mean."
"Now that you've made some money, remember to treat us to the last meal!"
