Chapter 169: Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Chapter 169: Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Raiden ignored the guy who shamelessly started moping around after losing, focusing on a bigger headache instead.
"What can I even do with this hunk of metal..." He looked at the gleaming silver jet in front of him while holding his head.
Don’t get him wrong, it’s a really great gift, probably worth even more than himself. He was sure that even if he sold both of his kidneys, he wouldn’t even be able to buy one tenth of it.
The problem was the people who made it.
The Tachibana Clan
Residing in ’The True Capital’, they were one of the strongest clans in the world. They were so strong that one of the only 12 Mythical Tier Battle Masters originated from this clan.
So now Raiden was left with one of the most advanced jets in the world, with nowhere to use it and no one bold enough to buy it from him.
He tried to sell it back to Yuna, who just said ’Get lost, brat!!’
"I can’t even fly it, even if I want to. You need special permission to enter some zones, and more importantly, each freaking flight costs 10 million!!! How can he even afford to fly this jet?!!" Raiden exclaimed angrily.
’No, this won’t do. I must find a way to get out of this jet as soon as possible.’
Raiden started looking around for the sacrifice before finally settling his gaze on her striking figure, who was chatting with an old man.
Having finally made up his mind, he made his way towards the figure of the girl and the old man who were chatting amicably.
As soon as the old man saw him walking towards him, his nostrils flared up in anger.
"You brat!! You dare to get close to my granddaughter? Lost, get lost, I say!! Or I beat you up!!" Old Man Sol rolled up his sleeves.
"Grandpa!! Play Nice!! You can’t do that." Morgana chided her grandfather before turning towards Raiden with a curious gaze. She didn’t know what to do to call her boyfriend bold or dumb, approaching her while her grandfather was here.
"Ahem, don’t mind me, grandfather. I was just here to give this to Morg. Consider this an early New Year’s gift from me." Raiden quickly shoved something into her hands before running away extremely fast.
"You brat, who gave you permission to call me grandfather?? Humph!! By the way, what did that stinky guy give you??" Old man Sol peered curiously.
"It looks like the key for...that Jet??" Morgana spoke in a confused voice.
"Haa, that insidious brat, offloading his problems on you. What a ’considerate guy’ indeed. Anyways, since he gave it to you, keep it. Our Solaris clan can afford to digest it." Hearing her grandfather’s words, Morgana snapped out of her stupor.
"No, it’s too valuable. I must give it back to him." Hearing her words, old man Sol looked at his great-granddaughter speechlessly. Since when did she become so dumb? Love truly made people stupid.
"Are you sure you want to give it back to him? It’s from the Tachibana Clan. If you hold it, they wouldn’t likely take action, since you are a student of Archon Academy. If he, a simple farm boy, holds it and the news gets out that he beat the heir to the Tachibana Clan and now owns their clan’s belongings, what do you think will happen to him?"
Morgana stopped in her tracks after hearing her grandfather’s words. Holding this Jet for him would do more harm than good.
"You are right. Thank you, grandfather. You are the best. Muah!!" Morgana planted a kiss on her grandfather’s cheek, causing him to burst into loud, happy laughter.
"Grandfather, you warned me about his safety. Does it mean...you care about him??" Morgana asked mischievously.
"What rubbish!! There is no way I would care for that stinky brat!! I just don’t want to see you get sad in case something happens to that boy." Old Man Sol grumbled under his breath.
’Wow, I never knew my grandpa was a Tsundere. Acting like one at his age, tsk tsk.’
Morgana marvelled inwardly while complimenting him on the outside, causing him to become even happier.
Meanwhile, Raiden approached the freeloader at the party, who was eating his food happily.
"Hey, You!!"
"Hmm??" Silk stopped stuffing his face and turned toward Raiden with a confused look on his face.
"What hmm?? How long are you planning to stay here? Didn’t I already beat you?? When are you planning to leave?"
Hearing the question, the young master quickly swallowed the food in his mouth, patting his chest as he answered nonchalantly.
"Leave? No, I can’t leave."
Raiden:???
"What do you mean??"
"I mean, I already gave you my jet. How am I supposed to leave? You can’t expect me to walk back to the Archon Academy now, can you??"
Hearing him say it like it was the most obvious thing in the world, Raiden felt there was something wrong with his comprehension.
"No way! My farm is too small. We can’t afford to let the ’Great Gods’ like you stay. Find a means to go back. Hitch a ride. Call your parents. I don’t care. I want you to leave." Raiden spoke with irritation in his voice.
"But you beat me, aren’t you the ’Greater God’ now?? And you still live at the farm. Not to mention, you also invited my aunt to eat here. If I am a ’Great God’, she is like a ’God King’. If she can stay, why can’t I?"
Raiden found himself once again stuck speechless by this guy. He felt like his IQ was dropping just by talking to him.
Is this how other people felt when they talked to him??
"By the way, peas-I mean Raiden. You are so strong. Why do you live here, stuck at this small farm? With powers like yours, you could easily gain admission to Archon Academy. Don’t tell me...you look down on the Academy and the principal, The Archon?!!"
Raiden quickly clamped a hand over his mouth, shutting him up. This dude was going to get him killed.
"You really dare to imagine big. You think I look down on the strongest person in the world? Do I even have the qualifications?? Don’t say such nonsense in front of others unless you want someone to try to fight and kill me.
"As for why I don’t go to Archon Academy, it’s quite simple. I don’t want to study anymore." Now it was Silk’s turn to be stuck speechless by Raiden’s nonchalance.
"That’s it??"
"That’s it. What other reason did you think there was?? I just don’t like to study or fight. That’s why I stay peacefully at the farm. Even all my Terrans are peaceful. They don’t like to fight either."
"Are you...sure about that??" Silk painted on his left, causing Raiden to unconsciously turn his head.
Over there, he could see Woolie alone fighting against Neva and Cinder, each of their attacks causing great destruction in the background.
"Chrrip!!~" You stinky sheep, how dare you copy my attacks!! Take this Original Sunset Overdrive!!
"Sha Sha!!" I will finally beat Big Brother today! Flash Cannon!!!
"Woolie Woo!!" Bring it on!! I am not called Emperor Woolie if I can’t beat my little sisters!! Hellfire Stomp!!
Bang!! Bang!! BOOM!!!
Looking at the apocalyptic level of destruction caused by his Terra Beasts, Raiden turned his head back towards Silk.
"As I was saying, all I and my Terra Beasts want is a peaceful life. We don’t like fighting."
"No!! As you can see, they are clearly fighting and enjoying it. You can’t just pretend to—" Silk tried to point it out.
"Huh?? Who? What? Where? What are you even talking about? I don’t understand. Me and my partners are peaceful people who like to live peacefully at the farm. Please don’t disturb our peace. Understand? Okay, peace out, peace." Raiden forcefully terminated the conversation before he walked away from the guy who was insistent on raising his blood pressure.
As long as he didn’t look at it, it did not happen. Woolie and others fighting? He never found out about it. As long as he ignored it, it didn’t happen.
Silk looked at the Raiden, who was walking away and felt like he was really an interesting person. He must come back to visit when he has the time. Their friendship was one of true men after all, built on a great, sacred duel.
If Raiden knew Silk’s thoughts, he would have come back to beat him senseless.
He spent the rest of the evening and night talking to everyone and cooking as the sun gradually fell beyond the horizon.
They even played some games and acted silly, causing some laughter to erupt around the house.
Seeing his sister laugh so joyfully, Raiden felt happy and fulfilled in his heart. This was probably the happiest she looked in the past year.
Gradually, the clock approached midnight.
Ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
Four.
Three!
Two!!
One!!!
"Happy New Year!!!~"
Crack-Bang!!!
Raiden silently interlocked his fingers with Morgana’s as they looked at the fireworks together.
It was their first New Year together, and he resolved to spend the rest of their New Year’s together.
