Chapter 322 Surprise
Chapter 322 Surprise
When Dante received news of the arrival of the main force of the Third Fleet, an unprecedented sense of hope surged within him. The fleets of the Imperial Fist Chapter and the Steel Hand Chapter appeared above Baal's orbit like a steel torrent, their warships gleaming with a cold light, as if proclaiming the power of the Empire.
Dante immediately summoned all chapter commanders and generals, his voice filled with determination: "The Hive Fleet's transmission devices are our greatest threat. We must destroy them as soon as possible, or the Zerg forces will pour into Baal in an endless stream. For this attack, we must send our strongest units."
His gaze swept over everyone present, finally settling on Russell and Cato Sicarius: "Russell, Cato, this mission is entrusted to you. Your strength and experience are key to our success."
Russell nodded, a hint of determination in his eyes: "Understood, Lord Dante. I will do my best."
Cato gave a confident smile: "Don't worry, Dante. With me here, the Zerg fleet is nothing but a bunch of flying insects."
When Russell and Cato boarded the flagship of Imperial Fist and Steel Hand, both company commanders—Company Commander Torris of Imperial Fist and Company Commander Feros of Steel Hand—were curious about Russell's appearance.
Company Commander Torris sized up Russell, his brow furrowing slightly: "Cato, who is this...?"
Company Commander Feros also cast a questioning glance at him: "A mortal? Why would he be here?"
Cato Cicarius smiled and said in a relaxed tone, "This is one of my men, my servant. Don't let his appearance fool you; he's no ordinary man."
Russell didn't refute, only nodded slightly, his gaze calm. He knew that Cato was covering for him to avoid attracting unnecessary attention.
Company Commander Torris was clearly skeptical, but didn't ask any further questions: "Alright, since you're one of your men, then so be it. However, this mission is no joke, and the Hive Fleet's defenses are no laughing matter."
Company Commander Feros coldly replied, "I hope your 'servant' won't hold us back."
Cato patted Russell on the shoulder, his tone slightly teasing: "Don't worry, my servant is very capable."
Russell remained silent, following Cato closely. His gaze was calm, but he was already planning their next move. He knew the key to this mission was destroying the Hive fleet's transmission devices, and his golden psionic energy would be his greatest asset.
The tension reached its peak as the fleet approached the Zerg hive fleet. The Zerg warships hovered in the void like decaying stars, their surfaces covered with writhing veins and corrosive slime, as if proclaiming their terror.
"Prepare for attack!" Company Commander Torris's voice came through the communicator. "All units, target the Zerg fleet's transmission devices and open fire at full speed!"
The Imperial Fist and Iron Hand warships swiftly launched their attack, unleashing a torrent of fire from explosive cannons and molten beams upon the Zerg fleet. However, the Zerg's defenses were equally formidable; psionic shields and corrosive acid bombs rendered the Imperial attacks largely ineffective.
“Cato, we need to get closer!” Russell said in a low voice, a hint of determination in his eyes.
Cato nodded and quickly ordered, "All assault boats, prepare to land! We're going to destroy the transmission device from the inside!"
Russell and Cato led an elite squadron aboard assault boats toward the Zerg fleet's flagship. Their objective was clear—to destroy the transmission devices and cut off the Zerg's troop transport.
As the assault boat approached the Zerg hive's flagship, Russell swiftly raised his hands, golden psionic energy gathering in his palms. His gaze was cold and stern: "Prepare for the impact."
"Boom!" Russell's golden psionic energy cleaved through the psionic shield of the Zerg hive flagship like lightning, and the assault boats took the opportunity to rush into the ship's interior.
When Russell's golden psionic energy cleaved through the Zerg flagship's psionic shield like lightning, Captain Torris of the Imperial Fist and Captain Feros of the Iron Hand were almost simultaneously stunned. Their eyes were filled with shock and disbelief—a mere mortal could unleash such powerful psionic energy, even breaking through the Zerg fleet's defenses in one fell swoop!
"What... what kind of power is this?" Company Commander Torris murmured, nearly dropping his explosive pistol.
Company Commander Feros's voice carried a hint of shock: "Cato, your 'servant'... just who is he?"
Cato Cicarius chuckled, a hint of smugness in his voice: "I told you, my servants are no ordinary men. Now is not the time to discuss this; we must hurry!"
The two company commanders quickly regained their composure. Although still filled with doubt, they knew this was not the time to hesitate. The interior of the Zerg hive flagship was fraught with danger, and every second of delay could lead to mission failure.
"All units, move in immediately!" Company Commander Torris shouted, and the Imperial Fist warriors rushed into the breach in the Zerg hive's main ship.
Company Commander Feros coldly said, "Steel Hand, keep up! Don't let the Imperial Fist steal the show!"
Russell charged ahead, leading the charge. His golden psionic energy surged within him, like a sun about to burst forth. The interior of the Zerg hive flagship was filled with writhing flesh and corrosive slime, the air thick with a nauseating stench. Zerg guards surged forward, Bladebugs, Gunbugs, and Tyrannical warriors attempting to halt their advance.
"Russell, watch out on the left!" Cato's voice came as he swung his power sword and killed a blade worm that was trying to sneak up on him.
Russell nodded, swiftly raising his hands, golden psionic energy coalescing in his palms like flames. His gaze held a chilling glint: "It's time to show them true power."
Boom! Russell's golden psionic energy erupted suddenly, exploding like a golden sun inside the Zerg hive's main ship. A psionic storm swept through, turning the Zerg guards to ashes in the golden light, their flesh and carapace completely vaporized. The entire interior of the Zerg hive's main ship seemed to be purified; the corrosive slime and writhing flesh vanished without a trace in the psionic storm.
Company Commander Torris and Company Commander Feros were once again stunned. Their eyes were filled with awe, even a hint of fear. This power was beyond their comprehension.
“This…this is simply the Emperor’s wrath!” Company Commander Torris said in a low voice, his voice trembling slightly.
Company Commander Feros coldly replied, "Whoever he is, he's our ally now. Move forward!"
Russell ignored their shock; his target was clear—the Hive's transmission device. His golden psionic energy, like a sharp sword, pierced straight into the core of the Hive's mainship. The Zerg's resistance seemed so fragile before his power, as if made of paper.
"The transmission device is just ahead!" Cato's voice rang out, as he slashed his power sword and killed a Tyrannical warrior.
Russell's eyes held a resolute glint: "Leave it to me."
He thrust his hands out forcefully, and golden psionic energy surged towards the transmission device like a torrent. The hive's defenses attempted to block it, but before Russell's power, everything seemed utterly powerless.
"Boom!" The transmission device completely collapsed under the impact of the golden psionic energy, and the interior of the Zerg hive flagship began to shake violently. The roars of the Zerg echoed in the air, but they were powerless to stop it.
"Mission accomplished! Everyone, retreat!" Company Commander Torris shouted the order, and the warriors of Imperial Fist and Iron Hand quickly retreated toward the assault boat.
"Russell, run!" Cato's voice rang out as he swung his power sword and slashed down a Zerg guard that was trying to get close.
Russell nodded and quickly caught up with the group. His golden psionic energy gradually subsided, but the invisible pressure still instilled fear in the surrounding insectoids.
As the assault craft surged out of the Hive's main ship, the entire Hive fleet began to crumble. The destruction of the transmission devices severed the Zerg's troop transport, and the Hive's wrath unleashed a storm in the warp.
