Chapter 414 271: Huasheng Automobile's Explosive Sales (2)
At this time, some developed Western countries have far surpassed the domestic penetration level in terms of construction facilities like charging stations and piles. After purchasing a pure electric vehicle, consumers there can conveniently charge their cars.
In 2010, the State Grid launched a plan to build charging stations and piles in 27 provinces and cities across the country. They aimed to construct 75 charging stations and 6,209 charging piles within the year. Nonetheless, the small number of charging stations and piles nationwide is clearly inadequate.
To reach a level of ubiquity that makes charging electric vehicles convenient, there is still a long way to go.
If it's just short-distance commuting within the city, it can still be overcome, as charging at home isn't a very troublesome matter.
However, for long-distance travel, if there are no charging stations or piles along the way, it's still too early for pure electric vehicles to develop significantly.
Developing infrastructure such as charging stations and piles requires government promotion, and cities like Shenzhen need the government to invest in such developments.
Due to the great inconvenience of charging, few people are willing to purchase pure electric vehicles, so Huasheng's pure electric vehicles not selling well isn't surprising.
Also in 2010, with the introduction of the "Interim Measures for the Administration of Financial Subsidies for Private Purchase of New Energy Vehicles," a milestone was written into the history of new energy vehicle development in China. The subsidy pilot work for private purchase of new energy vehicles in five cities, including the Magic City, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, was officially launched.
Although up to now, the aforementioned five cities and later added Beijing have begun to implement this policy, the effects are not obvious. Many domestic car companies have already entered the production and sales of pure electric vehicles. However, each company already producing electric vehicles only sold about two to three hundred units throughout 2010.
Currently, many domestic car companies primarily cooperate with government departments to deploy pure electric vehicles in public transportation buses and taxis.
Huasheng New Energy Vehicles has not produced buses or coaches, only cooperating with the government on taxis.
Yi Anguo also knows that the domestic pure electric vehicle market is not yet mature, so he hasn't considered mass-producing pure electric vehicles at this stage.
Currently, the focus is still on producing fuel-powered models and a small number of plug-in hybrid models. When it comes to pure electric vehicles, they will only produce a few in small quantities, mainly strengthening research and development in technology to prepare for competition in the future new energy vehicle field.
In fact, at this time, BYD is still mainly producing fuel vehicles, with only one hybrid car on the market. Their pure electric vehicles are actually still in the research and development stage.
Furthermore, BYD's fuel models are primarily compact, targeting the mid-to-low price range of the family car market.
As for the cooperation with Tesla, it's to prepare for the future because pure electric vehicles are the trend of future development.
Even if the current focus is on producing fuel cars, Tesla's model designs can still be introduced. Tesla's model exterior designs are very competitive, stylish, and much liked by young people, full of a sense of technology.
The facts have proven this point. Although Huasheng Automobile's pure electric vehicle sales are poor, their fuel vehicles sell very well, even explosively.
Since they adopted the cool model designs of Tesla sports cars, they've gained the favor of many young people, becoming a hit upon release.
They've also put a lot of effort into car interiors, striving to provide a very comfortable experience for those sitting inside the car.
After purchasing, consumers report an excellent driving experience. Although it can't compare to a real sports car, compared to ordinary domestic cars, in grade, it feels much higher, and driving it seems quite prestigious.
Like BYD, which focuses on mid-to-low price models, Huasheng Automobile is also targeting the mid-to-low price range family car market.
However, unlike BYD, Huasheng's models are more generous. Unlike BYD's compact models, Huasheng offers relatively spacious interiors, which won't make one feel cramped inside.
Moreover, in terms of exterior design and interiors, Huasheng cars are several tiers higher than BYD cars.
However, the price of Huasheng cars is slightly higher than BYD cars, and they don't compete with BYD in terms of price.
Despite this, they still receive a lot of favor, getting recognized and accepted by many consumers.
The saying "you get what you pay for" holds true; while Huasheng cars are slightly more expensive, the quality is different! Whether it's the design of the exterior, the interior, or the space inside, including the driving experience, they are much superior to BYD's compact models.
Several fuel car models launched by Huasheng Automobile have sold very well, with annual sales in 2010 expected to reach 200,000 units. Huasheng Cars coming off the production line have almost no inventory; they sell as many as they produce, with many people wanting to buy a Huasheng fuel car needing to make a reservation first.
