Chapter 10 Death Worm

Chapter 10 Death Worm

Through the sandstorm, Cheng Feng could vaguely see Hu Bayi staggering towards him, his face covered by a veil.

Presumably, it was the people ahead who discovered that Professor Chen was missing.

He quickly took two steps forward; Professor Chen's hundred-odd pounds were no problem for him at all.

Unfortunately, the wind was blowing so hard that it was impossible to run.

Every step Cheng Feng took required 120% of his strength, not to mention carrying someone with him.

Soon, Hu Bayi ran with the wind to Cheng Feng's side.

Without a word, the two men tacitly helped Professor Chen up from either side and walked forward.

"what!"

Suddenly, Hu Bayi let out a fierce roar.

Cheng Feng perked up and quickly looked around. Soon, his eyes widened in surprise.

Amidst the overwhelming hurricane, sand dunes rose up from the sand not far away, constantly approaching their location!

"Come on!"

With a mighty roar, ignoring the mouthful of sand that had filled their mouths, Cheng Feng and Hu Bayi set off on a mad dash.

During this time, Professor Chen's legs were completely dangling in the air.

Just as the two had run a dozen meters, a strange-looking large worm suddenly pounced out of the sand pile behind them.

Upon witnessing this scene, the four words "Death Worm" instantly came to Cheng Feng's mind.

The legend of the Death Worm originated in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. It looks like an earthworm, but is thousands of times larger.

It moves incredibly fast through the sand, and its enormous mouth is filled with sharp teeth; it also sprays corrosive venom when it attacks.

These creatures are social animals, and Cheng Feng and his group were really unlucky to encounter them during a sandstorm.

"Xiao Feng, Hu Bayi!"

Yang Xueli's shrill voice faintly rang out amidst the sandstorm.

Cheng Feng looked up and saw that the silly woman was running this way, so he quickly shouted.

"Run! Death Worms!"

Unfortunately, Cheng Feng was facing a headwind, so his voice couldn't travel. In the end, Yang Xueli still managed to reach Cheng Feng and the other two.

Before he could speak, Cheng Feng grabbed Yang Xueli with his other hand and then charged forward with a roar.

He knew that fighting the death worms in the storm was tantamount to suicide.

Only by finding sheltered place could Cheng Feng be confident in fighting these things to the death.

The three of them ran as fast as they could, but soon one of the camels died. However, its death bought Cheng Feng and his companions some time.

At this moment, the fat man and his group in front started shouting loudly.

Cheng Feng and Hu Bayi quickened their pace and soon spotted a dilapidated group of buildings.

Seeing this, Cheng Feng knew that a chance of survival had appeared, so he quickly quickened his pace, and the three of them, supporting each other, finally entered the complex of buildings.

After placing Professor Chen under the sheltered wall, Cheng Feng drew the Zhanlu sword from his back.

"Xiao Feng, what happened?"

Seeing Cheng Feng's posture, Yang Xueli quickly asked loudly.

"Something's following us! Be careful, I'll take care of them!"

After saying that, Cheng Feng quickly walked out of this safe haven, weaving through the ruins of the buildings, and arrived at the outermost wall.

Looking outside, I saw that a dozen or so sand dunes were rushing toward us.

Holding Zhanlu tightly, Cheng Feng waited for his opportunity, planning to take the initiative and eliminate one of them first.

Inside the building ruins, Yang Xueli learned the details from Hu Bayi, and then said anxiously:

"Death Worms! What are these things doing here? Follow me!"

As she spoke, Yang Xueli led Hu Bayi towards the remaining eight camels.

He took a package off the back of one of the camels.

"This is a gas bomb. Be careful when throwing it. Hopefully, it will work on that thing!"

Hu Bayi picked up a few, utterly speechless, and said:

"Big sister, we're going against the wind. You want me to use this thing? Who are you trying to suffocate?!"

"Stop talking nonsense! No matter who we're fumigating, we can't let Cheng Feng deal with the Death Worms alone. Let's go!"

After saying that, Yang Xueli turned around and ran away without hesitation.

Hu Bayi didn't linger and followed Shirley closely, leaving only Fatty to protect the archaeological team.

Cheng Feng's gaze was fixed on the approaching sand pile.

Closer, even closer

The next second, Cheng Feng instantly rushed over the wall, and his Zhanlu sword stabbed fiercely into the nearest mound of earth.

With a whoosh, a cloud of yellow sand billowed up, and a giant worm flung Cheng Feng away.

Its head had been opened up with a large gash, and pale yellow juice was gushing out from its head.

Cheng Feng, who had been thrown several meters away, rolled over and stood up, using Zhanlu to support his body, and looked at the worm of death.

"Hopefully this thing just looks like an earthworm. If it even has the same biological characteristics, then it's terrible!"

Everyone knows earthworms; they won't die even if they're cut in two.

If the Death Worm had this ability, Cheng Feng's sword strike just now probably wouldn't have been very effective.

Cheng Feng was about to finish off the Death Worm while it struggled when he noticed the previously scattered sand piles suddenly turn a corner.

He charged toward the wounded Death Worm, but upon seeing this, Cheng Feng paused, intending to assess the situation first.

"breeze!"

"Brother Cheng!"

Cheng Feng turned around when he heard the sound and saw Hu Bayi and Yang Xueli running over, each carrying several cylindrical objects.

"What is this stuff?"

Cheng Feng raised his hand to stop the two of them, and pointed to the metal cylinder in their hands.

Without saying a word, Yang Xueli handed them to Cheng Feng and said:

"Gas bombs, I wonder if they'll work!"

As the two were talking, Hu Bayi suddenly shouted:

"Look!"

Cheng Feng turned his head and saw an astonishing scene.

Countless death worms swarmed and intertwined in the sandstorm, quickly tearing apart the one that Cheng Feng had wounded.

Those with wounds were also attacked and bitten by their own kind.

"Take this opportunity!"

With a shout, Cheng Feng unscrewed the gas bomb and then threw it at the swarm of insects with all his might.

Hu Bayi and Yang Xueli followed closely behind, and threw all seven or eight gas bombs they had brought near the Death Worm in a short period of time.

Although the sandstorm was strong, the dense fog released by so many gas bombs quickly enveloped the Death Worm.

"It works!"

In the gas, the death worms writhe and struggle, several of them quickly burrowing into the sand and fleeing the area.

Other dead insects followed closely behind, and a few minutes later, the remains of those insects were buried by the sandstorm.

It was as if they had never existed.
