Chapter 10 Armory
Chapter 10 Armory
The next morning, Tang Ming arrived at the agreed-upon location in a military vehicle with several sets of military uniforms. Tang Weiguo and Tang Xiaohu were already waiting there.
"Uncle Tang, you've worked hard today," Tang Weiguo greeted him warmly.
"Here are two sets of military uniforms. You two should change into them first. At this time, we can't attract the attention of anyone with ulterior motives," Tang Ming said cautiously.
Tang Ming has been able to reach his current position thanks to two things: his emotional intelligence and his prudence.
"Okay, Uncle Tang." After receiving the military uniforms from Tang Weiguo and Tang Xiaohu, Tang Weiguo began to change into the uniforms that Tang Ming had brought. The size was just right, showing that Tang Ming was also very observant.
"Get in the car, let's go." Tang Ming said, gesturing for Tang Weiguo and Tang Weiguo to get in the car after they had changed their clothes.
Tang Ming led the two men, now dressed in military uniforms, to a secluded arms depot outside the city, passing through several checkpoints along the way. The checkpoint officers, upon recognizing Tang Ming, let them through without even conducting a formal inspection.
"Nephew, we've arrived." Tang Ming ordered the guards to push open the warehouse door and led Tang Weiguo and his entourage inside.
Tang Weiguo looked around the huge warehouse, but there weren't many weapons at the moment.
"Uncle Tang, is that all?" Tang Weiguo asked.
"The situation is more serious now, and reselling arms isn't as easy as it used to be. We just sold a batch of arms a few days ago; these were all hard-earned assets," Tang Ming explained.
"But these are all good stuff." Tang Ming casually opened a box, which contained brand-new Jin-made Type 65 rifles (Jin-made Type 38).
Tang Xiaohu picked up one of the guns, skillfully fiddled with it for a moment, and said to Tang Weiguo, "Boss, these are all new guns, brand new and shiny."
"Uncle Tang, you're very kind," Tang Weiguo said, turning to Tang Ming.
“It’s only right to take care of my nephew. Nephew, feel free to look around and take whatever you like. I’ll sit down and rest for a bit.” After saying that, Tang Ming found a seat and sat down.
"Uncle Tang, you rest, I'll go with Xiao Hu to take a look." Tang Weiguo said and then followed Xiao Hu around.
"These Shanxi-made Type 65 (Shanxi-made Type 38) rifles are good, I'll buy them."
"Buy these heavy machine guns."
"Hey, there are submachine guns too. Buy them for the special operations platoon."
"Damn, they still have 10 mortars in stock. We have to buy them."
"There are three radios too, these are treasures, even though we don't know how to use them, we have to buy them."
. . . .
"Ammunition, buy it." Tang Weiguo muttered to himself as he looked around, his mind filled with nothing but buying, wishing he could empty the entire armory.
"Boss, come and take a look. What kind of gun is this? It's all written in foreign languages." Tang Xiaohu shouted at Tang Weiguo.
"Let me take a look." Tang Weiguo walked over and saw that Tang Xiaohu had already opened the box. Inside the box were five rifles, along with scopes and silencers.
"Wow, we've struck gold! This is a sniper rifle!" Tang Weiguo was overjoyed.
"This gun looks nice, but I don't know much about it. Ask Uncle Tang." Tang Weiguo pretended not to know.
In fact, Tang Weiguo understood this all too well. If used well, it could be a powerful weapon. He should make sure Wang Fugui makes good use of this gun when they get back.
"Uncle Tang, what kind of gun is this? I've never seen one like it before." Tang Weiguo picked up the gun and asked Tang Ming, who was standing next to him.
Seeing the gun in Tang Weiguo's hand, Tang Ming, fearing that Tang Weiguo might not recognize its value, quickly said:
“Nephew, this is a German product, it’s called a Mauser rifle, oh right, it’s called a 98k Mauser rifle, they say it’s a sniper rifle.” Tang Ming slapped his forehead and thought to himself.
"This gun is beautiful, I like it, I'll buy it." Tang Weiguo waved his hand.
"German-made, so it's a bit pricey, each one is a little goldfish," Tang Ming said, gesturing with his fingers.
"No problem, money is no problem," Tang Weiguo said nonchalantly. After all, it was bandits' money, so he didn't care about spending it.
"Uncle Tang, what's that covered by a cloth at the very back of the warehouse?" Tang Weiguo came to the back of the warehouse and saw a large area covered by a moisture-proof cloth. It looked like a machine.
"Oh, this is a bullet reloading machine and a grenade manufacturing machine that were retired from the arsenal."
"Is my nephew interested?" Tang Ming asked.
"This can be sold too?" Tang Weiguo asked, feigning confusion.
"As long as the money is right, anything can be sold." Tang Ming gestured with his fingers towards Tang Weiguo.
"The National Government is so damn corrupt, I've seen it for myself. It's outrageous." Tang Weiguo silently complained to himself.
"I wouldn't know how to use this even if I bought it, so I'd rather not buy it." Tang Weiguo said this on the surface, but he was secretly overjoyed. If he could buy it, he might be able to set up a small arms factory.
Seeing that Tang Weiguo was somewhat interested, Tang Ming hurriedly said, "Not knowing how to use it is not a problem. I have a few retired workers from the arsenal here, and I'll introduce them to you as well."
He secretly rejoiced: "I was just worried about a few retired workers from the arsenal asking for money. By pushing these people to my nephew, I've sold my goods and taken care of the people. It's a win-win situation, I'm so happy."
"Oh, is that so? Then, for Uncle Tang's sake, I'll offer 10 goldfish," Tang Weiguo said.
“Nephew, these are machines retired from the arsenal. They’re the only ones available. Here are 20 goldfish for you to take.” Tang Ming said.
"Uncle Tang, it's not that I'm stingy, but buying this machine will require hiring people to work and buying materials, which all cost money. How about this, for your sake, I'll add two more goldfish," Tang Weiguo said hesitantly.
"For the sake of my nephew, Uncle Tang, how about 18 small yellow croakers?"
After some haggling, Tang Weiguo finally bought the two machines for the price of 14 goldfish.
After the transaction was completed, both of them had genuine smiles on their faces.
Tang Weiguo was secretly delighted: "I really hit the jackpot this time! I got these two machines at such a low price, it's like I got a steal!"
Tang Ming secretly rejoiced: "Haha, I never expected these junk items could fetch the price of 14 goldfish! I've really made a killing!"
"Uncle Tang, I'll have to trouble you this time to transport these things to Tangjia Town. Last time, the goods were almost robbed by bandits, so I'll have to trouble you this time."
"Sure, sure, but we also need to bribe the guards over there. How about this, for my nephew's sake, I'll give him a discount: five goldfish?" Tang Ming asked.
“Five goldfish, okay, it’s settled then, but they must be transported safely to Tangjia Town,” Tang Weiguo said.
"There's definitely no problem," Tang Ming patted his chest and assured Tang Weiguo.
"By the way, Uncle Tang, could you get some medical equipment and medicine? Money is no problem," Tang Weiguo said.
"What do you need this for? These things are very valuable these days," Tang Ming asked, puzzled.
"Sigh, it's all because of those wounded militia soldiers. I'll get some medicine and hire a few doctors to treat them," Tang Weiguo explained.
“I see. Well then, since you’ve spoken, I’m familiar with the logistics department of the war zone hospital. As long as you have the money, I’ll help you get a few more sets of medical equipment and medicines.”
"Thank you, Uncle Tang, money is no problem." Tang Weiguo exuded the air of a wealthy landlord.
In the end, Tang Weiguo spent all of the nearly 400 small yellow croakers he brought before leaving the warehouse satisfied. Meanwhile, Tang Ming was calculating how much he could earn after dividing the spoils.
"Nephew, if you need to buy weapons in the future, just ask Uncle Tang. Uncle Tang will give you a discount."
"No problem, Uncle Tang, I'll come to you again next time."
