Chapter 714 Fairness
Chapter 714 Fairness
Fortunately, Chao Bufan and Wang Dakeng were seated together because there were exactly five chairs at the round gambling table, and only two were left for the two of them. This was because Sakata Saburo's right-hand seat was occupied by the American gambling king Jason, and his left-hand seat by the Japanese gambling king Yamashita Tomohisa.
“You’re quite something, aren’t your friends?” Saburo Sakata said with a smile.
Chao Bufan shrugged and spread his hands: "There's nothing they can do. No one else is clapping or cheering, so they have no choice but to do this!"
After the two sat down, Saburo Sakata said, "Gentlemen, let me introduce you. This is..."
"Let's skip the introductions!" Chao Bufan interrupted Sakata Saburo. "It's enough that we know them. As for us, we're just small fry anyway, so it doesn't matter whether we're introduced or not. You two gambling kings, am I right?"
Yamashita Tomohisa was unimpressed, his face full of disdain. He didn't even glance at Chao Bufan and Wang Dakeng, but Jason smiled slightly.
"Sakata Saburo, I think it's about time, let's begin!" Wang Dakeng said.
“Good, that’s great!” Saburo Sakata said.
Saburo Sakata's good mood was beyond description. It's understandable; of the five, the other two were gambling kings on his side. He wanted to see what extraordinary skills these two youngsters possessed to defeat the three of them. He wanted to use this gambling game to teach these two arrogant brats a lesson, settling all scores and increasing his own fame—killing two birds with one stone.
At this moment, the head referee announced into the microphone in front of him: "According to the competition rules, in the first round, the five 'gambling kings' will roll the dice simultaneously, and the side with the lowest number will win, with each side betting 500 million. The first two winners will then face off in the final showdown. Alright, the competition can begin."
As the referee was speaking, someone brought over five dice cups and set them up, with five dice placed next to each cup.
"Hey, referee!" Wang Dakeng raised his hand to signal, "Excuse me, if five people are rolling dice at the same time, what happens if they get the same number every time?"
"This……"
No sooner had the referee spoken than Saburo Sakata laughed and said, "Don't worry, there won't be any duplicate points."
Chao Bufan laughed and said, "That's not necessarily true. How about this, I'll make a bet with this Mr. Yamashita the Moron across from me..."
“Hey,” Yamashita Tomohisa immediately corrected in broken Chinese, “It’s Yamashita Tomohisa, not Yamashita Idiot.”
“Oh, sorry, Mr. Yamashita Self-Rescue,” Chao Bufan laughed, “a slip of the tongue, a colloquialism!”
"It wasn't Yamashita who saved himself, it was Yamashita Tomohisa," Yamashita Tomohisa corrected again.
“Sorry, my Mandarin isn’t very standard. Um… Big pit, you should bet against this Jason the Gambling King. That way, you can eliminate two people. As for the stakes, 500 million is too little. How about 1 billion? Third Master, what do you think?” Chao Bufan said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Saburo Sakata hesitated for a moment, then looked at Tomohisa Yamashita and Jason. Seeing that they both nodded in agreement, he said, "Alright, then I'll be your on-site referee."
“No problem.” Chao Bufan and Wang Dakeng exchanged a high five.
The four of them simultaneously picked up the dice cup, placed the dice inside, and then shook it.
"Heavenly spirits! Earthly spirits! Can you give me the lowest possible number?" Wang Dakeng closed his eyes, shaking the dice cup while comically chanting incantations.
Saburo Sakata smirked and gave a cold laugh.
Snapped!Snapped!Snapped!
The first to slam the dice cup down on the table was Yamashita Tomohisa, known as the Japanese gambling king, followed by the American gambling king Jason, and the third was Superb.
"Oh!"
Snapped!
Wang Dakeng was the last one.
Tomohisa Yamashita and Jason exchanged a glance, and then simultaneously revealed the answer!
The dice cups were piled up like a stack of Arhats, forming the number "1", with the top die showing exactly one. Then, one by one, they removed the dice and arranged them in a row; the sum of all five dice was five.
"My goodness!" Wang Dakeng exclaimed, his eyes widening in surprise. "That's incredible! No wonder he's the King of Gamblers!"
“Nonsense, he’s the gambling king, okay?” Chao Bufan replied in perfect unison, while placing one hand on the edge of the table.
"Stop talking nonsense, it's your turn!" Sakata Saburo knew what these two were up to; their envy was feigned, but their sarcasm was genuine.
"Alright!" Chao Bufan said, "Let's open the pit!"
Wang Dakeng said, "Bufan, everyone else is already offering the lowest possible points, are we still going to open?"
"What can we do if we can't? We'll just lose!" Chao Bufan didn't seem to feel any heartache at all.
"All right!"
The two men simultaneously opened their dice cups; however, each of them found that only four of the five dice remained, the last one reduced to dust.
"Oh my god!" Wang Dakeng screamed. "How come one die broke? This die is so fragile! Uh? Bufan, how come one of yours broke too?"
"Sigh!" Chao Bufan sighed, "I used too much force and one of them broke."
Little did they know that when Saburo Sakata and the two gambling kings saw the dice that Chao Bufan and Wang Dakeng had uncovered, they immediately had a bad feeling and all three of them frowned.
Chao and Wang simultaneously revealed the final answer: four dots.
"Wow! Mine is four. Impressive, what about yours?"
“Then mine is also four points,” Chao Bufan said, pointing to the dice.
"You two are so cunning!" Yamashita Tomohisa roared. "You're cheating! You're all cheating!"
Chao Bufan laughed and said, "I say, Mr. Yamashita Hisaharu, we all have the same dice cups and dice, so how could we be cheating? If you don't believe me, ask your Third Master next to you. Unless... there's something wrong here."
“Extraordinary,” Saburo Sakata frowned. “It seems I underestimated you.”
“It’s not that you underestimate us, but rather… you overestimate yourself.” Wang Dakeng said, crossing his legs. “Besides, you guys set all the rules for this casino, and there’s no rule that the dice can’t be broken, folks, am I right?” He spoke the last few words very loudly.
"Yes!" Ge Dawei and the others echoed loudly.
"Um..." Wang Dakeng asked with a smile, "Third Master, as the referee, you should be able to announce the results fairly and impartially, right?"
Sakata Saburo was furious. He looked at Yamashita Tomohisa and then at Jason. Before Sakata Saburo could speak, Yamashita Tomohisa and Jason stood up together and left the gambling table.
"Alright." Wang Dakeng put his foot down, then stood up and laughed, "Third Master, in the upcoming matches, I think one of us, Bufan and I, is destined to leave. How about this? I'll withdraw. As for my chips, Bufan, they're all yours. Good luck, brother!"
