Chapter 432 It's fun
Fenrit glanced at him and said coldly, "With your character, how could I not know? You still have the nerve to say that? One trip to Magic Canyon almost cost us our lives. I won't fall for your tricks twice."
"You bastard!" Bridal burst out cursing, "You dare say we didn't get anything out of this trip to Magic Canyon? Pure natural Philosopher's Stones, magic we can't even learn at the academy, magic replication—aren't all of these priceless treasures to us?"
Fenrir shrugged and said casually, "These are indeed good things for us, but if it weren't for Bufan, would you dare say that all of these things belong to us?"
“You’re such a smart aleck,” Bridal rolled his eyes at him. “Fine, you guys don’t have to go then.”
"Fine, forget it!"
Chao Bufan couldn't stand it anymore and laughed, "Alright, stop arguing, Bridal, stop playing coy and tell me, where do you want to take us?"
Bridal sighed and said, "Alright, I'll tell you then. I originally wanted to take you to the Vilia Mountains to explore and practice our control over magic, but since none of you are, then forget it."
"What?!" Fenrit and the others were all shocked. "Brido, are you out of your mind? You're taking us to the Vilia Mountains?"
"What? Is that not allowed?" Bridal asked calmly.
"Damn it!" Dosru cursed, "Are you crazy? Don't you know that's a restricted area for our academy?"
Bridal wasn't angry and said calmly, "What restricted area? That's only for students below the eighth grade."
"So what year are you in?" Dosru asked, sounding quite aggressive.
Bridal smiled and said, "Of course I'm a seventh-year student."
"That settles it then." Dosru, looking utterly hopeless, glanced at Brido and said nonchalantly.
Bridal chuckled and said, "So what if we're seventh graders? Don't forget, our current strength doesn't even qualify us as seventh-grade students anymore!"
"Uh!" Fenritt and the others were stunned for a moment, then they heard Currydo's delighted voice: "That's right, how come we didn't think of that!"
As they spoke, the three looked at each other, all with excited expressions.
Seeing how quickly the three of them reacted—from being disgusted and resistant one second to becoming interested the next—Chao Bufan was clearly taken aback and asked, "Can any of you tell me what kind of place this so-called Victoria Mountains is?"
“Unbelievable, you don’t know this yet! We don’t just learn magic without practicing it. What we learn in the academy is just some superficial theoretical knowledge. If we don’t have certain practical skills, what’s the point of learning magic?” Fenrit spoke first.
“So,” Bridal continued, “the academy, in order to ensure that every student can apply what they have learned, will continuously send each student out into the wild for training.”
“Of course,” Dosru continued, “their areas of activity differ depending on the grade level.”
Chao Bufan exclaimed in surprise, "Is that so? I've never heard of it."
Bridal laughed and said, "You've only been here a short time, of course you wouldn't know."
Chao Bufan nodded, thinking that she was right, and then asked, "So what kind of training do you do when you go out to train?"
“Is that even a question? Of course, it’s to fight monsters!” Fenrit said. “As far as the Magic Forest is concerned, there are quite a lot of monsters in it, and different levels of monsters have different activity areas. So, the academy will regularly arrange for students of each grade to go to different areas to hone their various combat skills. The number of monsters that the students kill is used to calculate their grades.”
"Is this considered an achievement? What if you didn't kill a single one?" Chao Bufan asked in surprise.
Bridal replied, "If you don't kill a single one, then you get zero points! However, there's no limit to the number of times each grade can go out for training; the higher the grade, the more times they can go."
“Of course,” Curry continued, “the points earned from field training are not the only points. At the end of the term, the academy will conduct a final exam for each grade. If you pass the final exam, you will enter the next grade for higher-level magic studies. If you fail, you will have to repeat the year. Of course, there are some exceptionally outstanding students in each grade who can usually enter the next grade early without taking the final exam.”
Curry got more and more excited as he spoke, paused for a moment, and then said, "Actually, another purpose of going out to train is to earn rewards. For every monster you kill, you can get a magic crystal from its body."
"A magic crystal?" Chao Bufan was immediately startled and asked, "Is it a magic core?"
“I suppose so!” said Bridal. “The magic core is the core part of the magic crystal, just like a peach, where the magic crystal is the kernel and the magic core is the pit.”
Fenritt said, "Generally speaking, magic cores are not very useful to us. So, every time the students return from their training, their instructors will help them take the magic cores out of the magic crystals. In most cases, the students will take the magic cores to the academy's supermarket to exchange for some daily necessities. As for the magic crystals, they are much more useful. They can provide energy, or magic power, for the students. Therefore, the students usually store the magic crystals in their magic wands to provide energy when using magic."
"Can't the magic core provide magic power?" Chao Bufan asked.
"Of course you can, but according to the academy's rules, any magic cores obtained by a student from killing a monster must be handed over to the academy unconditionally. Of course, the academy won't take them for free; you can exchange them for things at the supermarket."
Chao Bufan nodded and said, "It's pretty much what I imagined."
“Bu Fan, are you going or not?” Blido asked.
“Go, of course we’ll go to such a great place to hone our skills.” Chao Bufan said with a smile. “An ancient Chinese saying goes: ‘When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on a person, it first tests their will, strains their muscles and bones, starves their body, and empties their resources.’ Since the academy has entrusted us with such a great responsibility, we must hone ourselves beforehand so that we won’t be caught off guard when the real competition comes.”
“Good,” Bridal patted Super Extraordinary on the shoulder and laughed, “You’re on the same page as me.” Then, he looked at Fenrit and the others and continued, “You three, sigh, you really disappoint me. I’m so unlucky. I misjudged you. I thought you would be very interested in playing a grand, exciting, and novel game with me, but I didn’t expect… never mind, the more I talk about it, the more disheartened I become. I’ll stop here. You guys go back first! Super Extraordinary and I will go for a walk.”
