Chapter 414 Rookie
Chapter 414 Rookie
Immediately afterward, Bridal and the others followed suit and imitated Super Extraordinary.
Professor Madda and the others glanced at Chao Bufan and his group one by one. Professor Federer nodded, then looked up and gazed at the sky...
The once clear sky was suddenly covered by several dark clouds. These seemingly ordinary clouds gave off an eerie feeling.
After a moment, Professor Federon asked, "Professor Kressdorf, have you noticed anything amiss these past few days?"
Professor Federon's words immediately made Professor Madda and the others put away their playful mood and become serious, all fixing their gazes on the face of Krestor.
“I’ve been staying in the cave all day, how would I know if something’s wrong?” Kressdorf said, looking up at the sky and frowning. “It does seem like something’s wrong, but I’m relieved that you’re all here now, so I’m not needed, am I, Professor Federnon?”
Chao Bufan and his five younger relatives naturally couldn't get a word in edgewise, but they took it all seriously as spectators.
“It seems so,” Professor Federnon said coldly, “like I said, even if the ‘mysterious monster’ really does come—”
"My dear Professor Federon, can you please stop making it sound so real? All this talk of mysterious monsters is utter nonsense! It's just a rather large 'eel,' why are you all so afraid? If you're this scared, wouldn't the entire Magic Forest be in chaos?"
“Professor Kressdorf, can you please stop talking without knowing the consequences? I know you’re not afraid,” Professor Federnon said, half annoyed and half praising. “Who doesn’t know that you’re different, the mysterious monster—oh, well, the owner of the eel—is the only one afraid of you, isn’t he?”
“You flatter me too much,” Kressdorf said calmly. “The Black King possesses power that I could never have.”
"That's because you're too—oh—too noble, unwilling to be his enemy. He opposes us at every turn, yet you endure it again and again. Luckily, there are no outsiders here; I'm blushing just saying this!" Professor Federon said indignantly.
“In any case,” Kressdorf said calmly, “the Black Sky Demon King didn’t make a big fuss. This is just a minor skirmish; let him be. It’s harmless.”
Professor Federon glared at Kressdorf and said, "If that's the case, then why do you stay in that dilapidated cave and refuse to come out? Don't tell us you're here to retire in peace."
“Professor Kressdorf, don’t think we don’t know what you’re doing in that shabby cave. If you think that, you’re sorely mistaken,” Professor Madda said coldly.
"Also, you've been 'monopolizing' this key all these years. Don't tell us you've just been using it for decoration," Professor Beals said slowly.
"Since you all already know, why are you asking me?" Kressdorf asked calmly.
Kressdorf's words immediately piqued the interest of Professor Meda and the others, which was why they had come.
"So, you already know how to use it?" Professor Federon asked excitedly.
Kressdorf finally smiled for the "first time ever," nodding and saying, "I suppose so!"
“Ah, Professor Kressdorf, I knew you wouldn’t let us down.” Professor Madda patted Kressdorf on the shoulder with his thick hand and laughed.
“Good, good, then we are absolutely confident in dealing with the Dark Lord,” Professor Beals said.
“Professor Kressdorf, I think this is something to celebrate, don’t you think?” Professor Federnon said.
Kressdorf looked up at the dark clouds overhead and said slowly, "We can't be too happy yet. After all, the Black Sky Demon King is no pushover, so we must not let our guard down."
Professor Madda seemed to remember something, and said with a serious expression, "By the way, Professor Kressdorf, I've noticed something very strange these days. There are so many vampire bats in the forest, and I can't get rid of them no matter what I do. They're disgusting."
"Not only that, but there are also a lot of man-eating ants in the forest, which are just as hard to get rid of. It's so annoying," Professor Beers continued.
"Oh?" Kressdorf was slightly surprised and asked, "Is that so?"
“Isn’t that right? That’s why it’s so strange!” Professor Medea replied.
Kressdorf frowned, then turned to Chao Bufan and the others and asked, "If I remember correctly, the competition between the Magic Academy and the Dark Magic Academy is in a few days, right?"
Although they were treated like "air" by Kressdorf and the others, Chao Bufan and the others could tell from their conversation that what they were talking about was something that they, the five students, had no control over or right to influence.
Seeing that he finally had a chance to speak, Fenrit couldn't wait to speak first: "Yes, yes, there are only five days left until the competition between our Magic Academy and the Dark Magic Academy. Professor Kressdorf, we are the students selected by the academy to represent the Magic Academy in the competition!"
"You little brats? You can represent the Magic Academy in the competition?" Professor Meda said incredulously. "What's wrong with the Academy? They actually chose such rookies. Sigh, it seems the Magic Academy is not what it used to be." He then shook his head, looking quite disappointed.
"..." Chao Bufan and the others almost fainted. They were all advanced magicians, yet he called them novices. It was truly speechless. One thing was certain: all five of them knew perfectly well that in front of these five "old rascal" professors, they could only swallow any grievances they might have.
"Um—Professor Mai, we're not newbies, we're all advanced magicians!" Fenrit said, scratching his head sheepishly.
"High-level mage?" Professor Meda said sarcastically, "Pah! Do you think you're so great just because you're a high-level mage? You think you're invincible? Believe me, I can wipe you all out with a single sneeze."
“I believe you, I believe you,” Fenritt wiped away his cold sweat and nodded firmly in response.
For these "five rookies," a single sneeze from these "old guys" would indeed wipe them out—that's an undeniable fact. After all, those who can be called professors are either archmages, holy archmages, or even gods of magic. And those who call Principal Smith "kid" are either holy archmages or gods of magic. These five young men are well aware of this.
