Chapter 271 Dream
Chapter 271 Dream
Su Haijun was slightly surprised, then smiled and said, "Uncle, I had originally planned to come and see you and Aunt as soon as possible, but my bar just opened recently, and I've been very busy lately, so I haven't had time to visit you both. As for my marriage to Julian, I'd like to postpone it for a while until I have enough money to get married."
Upon hearing this, Julian immediately became slightly angry and said, "What do you mean? Don't you want to marry me?"
Su Haijun smiled wryly and said, "Julian, you've misunderstood. That's not what I meant."
"Then what do you mean?"
Su Haijun smiled bitterly again and said, "I really didn't mean anything by it. It's just that my career isn't stable right now. The bar business seems to be doing well, but it's not a long-term solution. Besides, it's not my dream. I want to wait until I have my own real career and security before I marry you."
Zhu Zhengde nodded in satisfaction and asked, "Navy, can you tell me what your dream is?"
Su Haijun replied without hesitation, "My original dream was to become a soldier like my father, but that's impossible now; becoming a high-ranking national official like you, Uncle, also seems impossible now. As for my current dream, to be honest, I haven't thought about it yet, but I do have a goal. I want to use my skills to start a small company first, and then take it slow."
Mrs. Zhu said, "Have you thought about it? Starting a company is not an easy thing. First, you need enough capital, then you need students, and then you need to be capable."
Su Haijun calmly replied, "I've thought about that. My greatest asset right now is my youth. Youth is my greatest asset. With this huge asset, nothing is difficult for me. For the dream in my heart, I'm not afraid of hardship or fatigue. If I can't achieve it in three years, then I'll do it in five. If I can't achieve it in five years, then I'll do it in ten. I firmly believe that as long as I'm willing to work hard and make sacrifices, one day I will achieve it."
Zhu Zhengde nodded approvingly and smiled, "Young people should have this kind of tenacity, not afraid of hardship, fatigue, bloodshed and sacrifice. You are very much like me when I was young. Once you set your mind on something, you will fight to the bitter end. Actually, if you had answered me earlier that you and Julian were planning to get married at the end of the year, I would not have agreed to your relationship with Julian."
"Ah? Dad, you..." Julian exclaimed in surprise.
Zhu Zhengde interrupted Julian, laughing, "Young people should prioritize their careers. If you don't even have a decent career, how can you talk about family matters? People say 'settle down and start a career, settle down first, then start a career,' but without a solid foundation, how can you start a career? Only after you've established your career can you talk about settling down. Especially now, most young people basically live a life of 'being waited on hand and foot,' spoiled by their parents, unaware that they're harming their children. Once such people enter society, what will they do? Parents are not their children's lifelong support; they will grow old too. At that time, besides being mediocre and wasting their lives, what else will they do?"
Su Haijun laughed and said, "That's why I want to build my own business first. I want to create a future that truly belongs to me with my own hands and my own abilities. At that time, I will not only be worthy of myself, but also worthy of my parents, and even more worthy of my future parents-in-law and my wife."
Zhu Zhengde nodded and smiled, "That's what a real man should say."
Mrs. Zhu smiled and said, "Navy, after what you just said, no matter what the future holds, your uncle and I have already accepted you as our future son-in-law."
Upon hearing this, Julian was overjoyed and exclaimed, "Mom, does that mean you and Dad have agreed to let me be with the Navy?"
Mrs. Zhu nodded and smiled, saying, "I agree."
"Oh yeah!"
Julian excitedly kissed his mother on the cheek.
Su Haijun smiled and said, "Uncle, Aunt, thank you for your affirmation. Don't worry, no matter what the future holds, I will dedicate my life to protecting Julian and will not let her suffer any injustice."
Upon hearing this, Julian became even more overjoyed and excited.
"Master, Madam, dinner is ready," said Madam Wu as she approached.
Zhu Zhengde nodded and said, "Navy, let's eat and chat! Be easygoing, just make yourself at home here, there's nothing to be reserved about."
Su Haijun smiled and said, "Uncle, I'm easygoing wherever I go."
"It's good that young people are easygoing. Madam, could I have those few bottles of wine that I've treasured for many years...?"
Mrs. Zhu shook her head and smiled, saying, "Alright, I'll go get it."
"Uncle, I don't drink alcohol."
"It's alright, we're just in a good mood today. Anyway, we don't have anything planned for the afternoon, so let's have a good drink together."
Su Haijun quickly looked at Julian with pleading eyes. Julian chuckled and said, "Don't look at me, I don't care."
After dinner, Zhu Zhengde and Su Haijun sat on the sofa and chatted. Julian and her mother went out on business.
During their casual conversation, Su Haijun inadvertently noticed a painting hanging on the wall opposite the end of the passageway in the living room. He was slightly startled and quickly looked away.
Hanging on the wall is an oil painting scroll, one meter long and one and a half meters high. The painting depicts an old man in white robes riding a colorful auspicious cloud as he ascends to the sky. The old man's face is turned upwards, one hand is behind his back, and the other hand is stroking his long, white beard. To the old man's left, on the same colorful auspicious cloud, a golden dragon is lying on it, as if taking a nap.
The oil painting is incredibly lifelike, giving the viewer a vivid sense of realism. However, since it lacks both a title and a date, its provenance remains unknown. Judging solely from its quality, the portrait was likely painted recently.
At first glance, Su Haijun was captivated by the oil painting, unable to look away. However, this incredibly realistic painting gave him a strange feeling; his heart trembled inexplicably, and his blood boiled. He frowned, alarmed, and thought, "Strange, what's going on? Why do I have this inexplicable feeling the moment I see this painting?"
Seeing that Su Haijun seemed very interested in a painting, Zhu Zhengde smiled and said, "What? You also know about ancient paintings?"
Su Haijun quickly averted his gaze, startled, but smiled slightly and said, "It's not really research, just a little interested! Uncle, is there anything special about these paintings?"
