Chapter 142 The Magician Charlie
Chapter 142 The Magician Charlie
Watching the girl he had long admired fall into another's arms, a murderous glint flashed in his eyes. He smiled and said, "Qianqian, I'm going to let you witness firsthand how I torture him bit by bit. I'm going to make you regret your choice for the rest of your life. I'm going to make you taste the bitterness of heartbreak and unbearable pain. Heh, heh, I hope you won't blame me. Actually, I didn't want to do this either. Blame him for making me so embarrassed. He's crossed my line, so he must die. But I don't want him to die easily. I'm going to torture him little by little, slowly. I'm going to make him taste the agony of being torn to pieces. Heh, Qianqian, am I being fair?"
"No, no, no, Qianqian, don't cry, and don't beg me. My mind is made up, and begging won't help. Oh, you want to make up with me? No, no, no, how can I take what he's used? You should have expected this outcome, shouldn't you? Qianqian, don't worry, I won't do anything to you. After I deal with him, I'll take my Julian and run away, away from this place of trouble."
"You're asking me who Julian is? You really don't know? Fine, I'll tell you then. She's very, very beautiful. She was my girlfriend when I was studying abroad, and we were deeply in love. When I returned to China, she wanted me to come to her house at the end of the year to propose, but I didn't agree because I wanted to be with you. Now that you're with that damn guy, there's no doubt about it. We're planning to get married at the end of the year! Tell me, do you think I'd still choose to be with you? Besides, you've already given him your body, how could I possibly eat someone else's leftovers?"
He muttered to himself, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, as he downed the red wine in his glass in one gulp, then poured his resentment and dissatisfaction onto the empty glass.
"Bang!"
With a sharp crack, the stemmed glass shattered. He then got up, walked to the window, and pushed open the half-closed window, preparing to leap into the darkness. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. He frowned, cursed under his breath, turned back to the sofa, and said sternly, "Come in!"
The door opened, and a bartender walked in, saying respectfully, "Boss, someone outside is looking for you."
Suppressing his anger, Su Haijun asked, "Who's looking for me?"
"I'm looking for you."
A phrase that was neither entirely foreign nor entirely Chinese rang out from the doorway, and then a foreigner, leaning on a cane, walked in with a smile. The man looked to be in his fifties, wearing a black robe and a black straw hat. What was most striking about him was his straight, hooked nose, the tip of which almost split his mouth in two.
Upon seeing this, Su Haijun frowned and said, "I don't think I know you. What do you want with me?"
The man glanced at the waiter, and Su Haijun said, "This is none of your business, get out!"
The waiter replied respectfully, "Yes, boss."
Su Haijun said coldly, "Speak, what do you want from me?"
The man placed his right hand on his left chest, bowed, and said, "Dear Mr. Su, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Charlie Weasley, and I am a magician."
"Charlie Weasley, the Magician?"
Su Haijun was slightly startled, thinking to himself, "Isn't he a world-class magician? What does he want with me?"
Let me explain the essential differences between wizards, sorcerers, and magicians. They specialize in different areas and wield different powers. For example, wizards specialize in witchcraft, using the power of various organisms and even bodily fluids to unleash magical abilities, such as insect poisons, bone powder, corpse dust, and venom. These are their favorites. They can use special methods to attach these to a person or object to achieve their desired results. Sorcerers specialize in elemental magic, using natural elements like fire, ice, water, wind, thunder, lightning, and feathers to manipulate the forces of nature and achieve their goals. Magicians specialize in magic, a power not derived from nature but from their own mental power. For example, they can use magic to make a broom sweep by itself or make objects fly. Furthermore, some magicians are born with the instinct to manipulate people or objects using their mental power; these are called magicians. Those who acquire this mental power later in life are called magicians. Although the names differ, they may possess equivalent mental power.
Su Haijun couldn't understand why this world-class magician would seek him out. But he wasn't stupid; he knew that Charlie wouldn't come looking for him without a reason. So he gave a cold smile and said, "Mr. Charlie, it seems we haven't had any dealings before. May I ask what business Mr. Charlie has with an unknown like me?"
Charlie straightened up and said respectfully, "Mr. Su, although we have never had any dealings before, we will in the future."
Su Haijun smiled slightly and said, "I don't think so. Mr. Charlie is a world-class magician. How could someone as unknown as me possibly be worthy of his status?"
Charlie smiled and said, "Mr. Su, Charlie has come here specifically to seek cooperation with you."
Charlie spoke very sincerely, without a trace of the arrogance of a magician.
Su Haijun smiled and said, "Then what does Mr. Charlie want to collaborate with me on?"
Charlie reached into his chest, took out a check from HX Bank, and placed it on the table in front of Su Haijun, saying, "Mr. Su, this is a small gift for you. It's nothing."
Su Haijun glanced at the number on the check, his eyes widened in surprise, and he thought: One hundred million US dollars? Holy crap, this is too extravagant a gift!
Su Haijun held up one finger, pressed down on the check, and pushed it forward, saying, "Mr. Charlie, this gift of yours is truly daunting. I'm afraid that if I accept it, I won't be able to eat or sleep properly!"
Charlie laughed and said, "Mr. Su, this is just a small gift. Whether or not you are willing to cooperate with me, this check is yours."
Su Haijun shook his head and smiled, saying, "Mr. Charlie is certainly generous, actually dropping such a huge pie in my face. However, I still firmly believe that heaven doesn't give away free lunches. Mr. Charlie, tell me your purpose in contacting me! What kind of cooperation do you want with me?"
Charlie laughed and said, "Mr. Su, you are indeed quick-witted. I admire you. Mr. Su, please take a look at this."
