Chapter 111 Ghost Ship
Chapter 111 Ghost Ship
"Kid, stop looking. I can sense that thing down there."
The old man's voice suddenly rang in his mind. He grunted in response and continued walking forward.
As he walked, he was on high alert, his expression unusually solemn. He was very careful and cautious with every step he took.
The pirate ship had two decks. The bottom deck was the core of the ship, containing the engine room and other facilities, while the upper deck was used for rest and storage. The stairs led directly down to the second-floor hall, which, while not particularly large, was a chaotic mess. Several skeletons lay scattered about, some sitting, some lying, some missing limbs, and some even headless. Clearly, these people had been caught completely off guard and met a devastating end.
"Squeak!"
With a sharp crack, Chao Bufan frowned immediately, looked down, and saw that he had stepped on a skeleton, the part of his foot crushed beneath his feet. Just as the crack rang out, a deep, eerie sound suddenly echoed from the darkness, like the low roar of a long-dormant lion suddenly awakening, or the sound of wind rustling through branches.
"Hooo!"
Chao Bufan's heart skipped a beat. He quickly looked up and saw a beam of light appear not far ahead. It was a faint, white-tinged blue light that floated uncertainly in the darkness, like a wisp of smoke, ethereal and elusive. In mid-air, before Chao Bufan's eyes, it gradually transformed into a beautiful yet sorrowful face, slowly walking towards him.
Chao Bufan's body trembled, and he cried out in shock, "A ghost!"
Chao Bufan was horrified and moved, feeling a chill run through his body, a chill that penetrated to his very bones. It was a coldness that seemed to chill not only his body but also his heart.
Note: Ghosts, also known as spirits, are ancient legends that when a person dies, only their soul remains. At the end of their life, the soul leaves the body to be reborn, endlessly reincarnating life after life. However, there are vengeful spirits in the world, driven by the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance, and by fear, hatred, and dread. They cling to the mortal world, looking back on their past lives, unwilling to be reborn; these are called "spirits."
Having lived two lives, Chao Bufan had never seen anything so terrifying before. He had heard a lot about superstitions, but they were all hearsay. Seeing this for the first time now sent chills down his spine.
His scream only carried far into the darkness, his voice sounding faint and ethereal in the surrounding gloom. After a moment, however, a faint echo returned. As if startled by his cry, countless beams of light silently flashed again in the darkness around him.
He felt a jolt in his heart, as if his heart had stopped beating. He held his breath and watched as a beam of eerie white light, almost identical to the ghost from before, lit up in the darkness ahead.
Then, a light appeared on the left, a light appeared on the right, a light appeared in front, a light appeared behind, and even when he looked up, the top of his head lit up, flashing with a faint white light, flickering and swaying.
Countless spirits, as if awakened from a long slumber, felt the warmth of the human body that had appeared for the first time in hundreds of years, and these ghosts immediately gathered here in a frenzy.
The wisps of white light, like wisps of smoke, floated and shifted, transforming into countless faces, some male, some female, some old, some young, some beautiful, some ugly. Yet, in Chao Bufan's eyes, there was only one feeling: icy coldness.
The thought of countless evil spirits swarming and surrounding him sent chills down his spine, giving him goosebumps. Fortunately, after the initial shock, he soon discovered that these evil spirits seemed quite afraid of the ball of light in his hand and dared not get too close to the white light emanating from it.
It seems these ghosts really are afraid of light!
With a thought, he flipped his right hand downwards, and the ball of light in his hand disappeared. In its place, his entire body shone with a dazzling white light, illuminating the area within a ten-foot radius even more clearly. He tried to take a step forward, and as expected, the ghosts all took a step back. However, the ghosts behind him took a step forward instead.
"Kid, I suggest you absorb and refine these Yin spirits. It's a rare feast!"
"Uh?"
Chao Bufan exclaimed in surprise and hurriedly asked, "Senior, why would you want to refine these disgusting things? Just looking at them makes my scalp tingle and my hair stand on end. They're so disgusting, how could I possibly have the mood to refine them?"
"Hehe, kid, these are all good stuff! This is hundreds or thousands of times better than what you ingest when you unite with a woman with a yin body!"
"kindness?"
Chao Bufan exclaimed in surprise again, "No way?"
"You'll see once you try, kid. Right now, the most important thing is to absorb all these evil spirits. Anyway, that divine object won't escape us."
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan frowned and pondered for a moment, then said helplessly, "Alright, senior, then you can teach me how to refine them."
Nonsense, with such a powerful entity within him, it would be a waste not to make good use of it. Besides, he really doesn't know the art of refining.
As soon as he finished speaking, something appeared in his mind. He hesitated for a moment, then sat cross-legged and put away the light emanating from his body.
The light vanished, plunging the surroundings into complete darkness, as dark as night, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Sensing the danger had disappeared, the ghosts immediately became enraged, baring their fangs and roaring as they pounced on Chao Bufan, surrounding him in the blink of an eye.
"Roar! Roar!"
The piercing roars continued incessantly, but he did not hesitate. Just as these evil spirits surrounded him, he suddenly stretched out his hands and drew two circles in the air, one upright and one in reverse. Instantly, a yin-yang diagram flashing with dazzling light appeared before him. His left hand acted as the eye of the black fish, and his right hand as the eye of the white fish, and he began to rotate along the trajectory of the yin-yang diagram.
Just as his hands were spinning, he shouted sharply, "Stop!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the Tai Chi Yin Yang diagram burst forth with a vortex, radiating light in all directions. At the same time, a tremendous suction force suddenly emerged from the vortex, sucking in all the surrounding Yin spirits in the blink of an eye, like a whale sucking in water.
The sudden turn of events caught the ghosts completely off guard. Those at the back, once they reacted, screamed and turned to flee in panic. However, the vortex formed by the Yin-Yang diagram was like a giant vacuum cleaner, its suction force so strong that it gave them no chance to escape.
