Chapter 501 Unprecedented Challenge
Chapter 501 Unprecedented Challenge
Su Li and the others first cleaned up the crystallized bone marrow around them, then returned to the train to replan its route. They also secured all the items inside the train.
Because the entire pit is almost vertical, once the train enters, it will naturally descend vertically as well. Without proper anchoring, the inside of the train will become a complete mess.
The train started moving and entered the pit inside the slime's lair.
As the train slowly entered the massive bone tunnel, the already dim, pale green light around them was gradually swallowed up. The crystallized bones, which had originally shimmered with a ghostly green glow, also gradually became dull and lifeless as they went deeper.
After traveling some distance, Su Li noticed that the texture of the soil outside the window had changed, from dark, crystalline bones to gel.
This gel lasted for 5 minutes, and the surrounding soil transformed back into crystallized bone.
"Have we entered another skeleton?" Su Li voiced her guess.
As it entered the new skeleton, the brightness of the outer skeleton increased slightly, but it became hazy.
Outside the train window, a layer of gray mist quietly appeared. At first, it was just a thin wisp, but as the train went deeper, the mist became thicker and thicker, eventually turning into rolling gray miasma that wrapped around the train's exterior like a living thing.
“This miasma…something’s not right.” Sophia stared at the monitoring screen, her brows furrowed. “Not only is it somewhat corrosive, but the magical energy within the high-temperature resistant composite steel on the outer layer of our train is being plundered.”
Upon hearing this, Ivan immediately released a small-scale light shield towards the train.
He closed his eyes and sensed it for a moment, then said, "Sister's senses are correct; something outside is absorbing magical energy."
Song Mingyu also spoke up: "It's not just magical energy; the life force of the barnacles on the outer shell is decreasing, and this gray mist can also absorb life force."
"How's the efficiency?" Su Li asked the crucial question.
Sofia added, "It's very inefficient, but that's not a good sign."
If a monster can absorb both magical energy and life force, then the monsters living here will most likely have similar abilities or related resistances.
While Zuli and his companions were pondering and observing, the train finally passed through the narrow tunnel and entered the interior of the skeleton.
Inside the skeleton, the crystallized bone retained some brightness, but it was far less bright than the previous skeleton.
The train tracks landed on a mountain of flesh not far away.
Su Li and the others parked the car and got out.
Suddenly, Su Li shuddered, a chilling will piercing her mind like a sharp needle. It wasn't language, but a primal sense of oppression, like a mountain collapsing or the suffocating depths of the sea. A clear message exploded in everyone's consciousness:
[Attend to the Emperor...or... be annihilated...]
“They’ve sent out an invitation.” Su Li shook her head. “At this point, running away will only provoke them to attack the train.”
The train traveled in the direction the sound indicated.
The opponent was exceptionally arrogant, making no attempt to conceal its presence. Its savage magical aura, like that of a wild beast, asserted its dominance in front of them.
The train jolted violently! The miasma ahead suddenly swirled out, revealing a horrifying sight—
A monster the size of a train lay prostrate on the skeletal throne.
It resembled a western skeletal dragon, yet its entire body was covered in decaying, grayish-white flesh, like a rotting corpse consumed by fungal hyphae. Jagged bone spikes pierced its skin, constantly oozing a gray mist; the deformed membranous wings extending from its spine were riddled with holes, spewing miasma with each breath. Most terrifying of all was its head—it had no eyes, only a gaping wound occupying half its skull, inside which layers upon layers of ring-shaped sharp teeth could be seen.
This is a decaying dragon! It's not only incredibly disgusting, but it also possesses the ferocious aura of a predator, a quality typically found only in apex predators.
Upon seeing Su Li and the others arrive, the rotting dragon opened its mouth, and a large amount of gray miasma spread from its body, flowing like water droplets onto the ground and reaching the side of the train.
"Let's get off the bus." Su Li stretched her shoulders. "I have a feeling we might be about to unlock an achievement today."
What achievements?
That would be the achievement of challenging a Gold-level monster!
Yes, from the opponent's undisguised magical power, Su Li could understand what level of enemy this was.
With essence, energy, and spirit gathered at the top of the head, one lays a flawless foundation, truly passing through the 'foundation-laying' stage and beginning the path to supreme power.
"Gold level?" Su Li opened the car door, his mouth splitting open beneath the mask, his fighting spirit burning in his eyes. "Perfect for testing what I've gained over the years."
Those pioneers who were able to solidify their extraordinary path into various hidden professions and open them up for other players with different skill point allocations to learn from, without exception, were able to kill Gold-level players at the Silver level. Some of them were even able to kill several Gold-level players single-handedly.
I, Zurich, could very well become one of them.
I've already thought of a name for this hidden class.
Let's call it the Sun and Moon Revolving in Two Heavens.
