Chapter 32 Looting the Town
Chapter 32 Looting the Town
After shaving his beard, Zuli regained his youth and looked like a 25-year-old.
So, the sun is really scary; it ages you without you even realizing it.
After this interaction, the three of them became closer.
"Brother Su, I really thought you were a man in your thirties, but you're only six years older than me." Ivan spoke without the usual restraint. Kids this age are still a bit reserved in front of adults.
"You little rascal, just wait until we go to a place where the sun is scorching hot again, then you'll see. Your face will peel off two layers of skin, and you'll look like an old man, or even a little old man!"
Su Li roughly rubbed Ivan's head.
After finishing that, Zuli began studying the blueprints for the newly acquired loom.
[Basic loom: capable of weaving fabric.]
Considering that there was no need to make fabric for the time being, and that the interior space of the car was too small, Su Li decided not to make this thing for the time being.
With this loom, and the cotton grown from cotton seeds, we can make our own cloth in the future.
After that, the journey continued until the morning of the fifth day.
Having just gotten up, Su Li started reading again on the train. The beginner's monster encyclopedia contained tens of thousands of low-level monsters; it would be a long time before she finished reading it.
After watching for a while, Ivan suddenly said to Su Li, "Brother Su, we're almost at our destination."
"Have we arrived yet?" Su Li quickly put down the book and looked outside.
In the distance, Zurich saw a cluster of man-made structures.
“A small town should yield quite a few things,” Su Li said, looking outside. Since yesterday morning, the wind in this world had been getting stronger and stronger.
The wind outside is now at level 7, which means it's difficult for people to walk outside.
"Let's hurry and find some supplies in this town before the wind gets too strong. Ugh, I have a bad feeling about this..."
Su Li sighed.
The three of them ate something and then laboriously went out the door.
Braving the strong winds, the three of them walked together toward the town.
It's clear from a distance that this place has been abandoned for a long time. Some wooden houses have collapsed, and only a few concrete buildings still stand.
Su Li glanced at the signs on the surrounding shops. "Welcome to Northwind Town. So this place is called Northwind Town. This hotel says there's a 20% discount for lumberyard employees. On the map, that large settlement to the north, which isn't on the way, is the lumberyard, right? It seems this used to be an attached town of the lumberyard."
Looking at the desolate logging camp, Su Li sighed, "I thought the world of survival was a world without people."
This is a common plot in the novels I read in my past life. Even when encountering civilizations, they were always some kind of enchanting, magical civilization with elves or fox spirits. I never imagined there would be human town ruins.
“We’ve seen human huts in the frozen forest before, and we even found some things inside,” Sofia added.
"We don't know if this place is safe or not, so let's not separate and explore together."
They both agreed.
The town has a total of more than 20 concrete houses and more than a dozen wooden houses, all of which have collapsed.
The three of them arrived at the nearest collapsed shop. It seemed to be a vegetable shop. Su Li ran to the ruins and looked around; it was completely rubble-suppressed, and there was nothing of value visible through the gaps. Su Li decided it wasn't worth spending too much effort searching the area.
Next was a concrete restaurant. Zurich went inside and looked around; everything had been moved out. It seemed this place hadn't been attacked suddenly; the original inhabitants had evacuated in a planned manner.
The three searched the abandoned restaurant and found an iron basin, some glasses, two bottles of dried-out, spoiled ketchup, and a large number of plastic chairs and tables from a street food stall.
Upon seeing this plastic chair, Su Li's mind immediately began playing the phrase, "I'm the storm that is approaching~".
It's a pity that there's no one in this world who can play the "severe illness ward" joke with me anymore.
Su Li suddenly felt a little sad.
After taking away the iron basin and glass, Su Li also took away the food stall chairs.
Seeing Ivan's confusion, Su Li replied, "It's all plastic. I want to break it down into materials. Our water tank's water pipes need plastic."
After placing them in her inventory, Su Li selected the disassemble function. The dozens of food stall chairs were then broken down into 11 pieces of plastic.
"Not bad, it broke down into 11 parts of plastic."
After searching the restaurant, the loot included: [Stainless Steel Basin*1], [Plastic*11], and [Glass*10].
Next came the pharmacies, which were even worse; they had absolutely nothing.
Su Li started to regret it; should she have come here to look for something?
The result was a pleasant surprise.
Several damaged concrete buildings appeared in front of Zuli.
These concrete structures resemble honeycomb briquettes, riddled with holes. These perforated concrete structures are located on the west side of the town; there are three of them.
Su Li entered one of them and glanced around; it seemed to be a barbershop. There were large black stains inside, likely bloodstains.
"What's going on? This group of people has been attacked?" Su Li looked at the densely packed, uniformly sized holes, and next to them, a 2-meter-long, snake-shaped skeleton. Suddenly, she remembered something unpleasant. "Hey, hey, hey, it can't be what I'm thinking, can it?"
Su Li swallowed hard and glanced at the wind outside. "Thank goodness, this level of wind poses no threat."
"Brother Su, what are you talking about?" Ivan asked.
“It’s a magical beast, a kind of magical beast that attacks people riding the wind. Don’t worry about it for now; those beasts are very heavy, and a level 7 wind can’t move them,” Su Li reassured her. “However, we still need to consider this thing. I always felt like there was no danger in this world; it turns out this was what was waiting for us!”
Su Li grumbled for a while, then started searching for things. "Hurry up and search everything, then we'll leave. We'll have a meeting back and change our route!"
Su Li and her two companions quickly searched the barbershop for useful supplies.
Perhaps the owner of this place died suddenly, and there are many things stored inside. Some valuables have been moved away, probably done by a 'kind person'.
However, there were quite a few good things inside. For example, a dozen bars of soap, a razor, a large mirror, and several large bottles of shampoo.
These are all good stuff. Zuli really couldn't stand her greasy body and hair anymore.

After finishing their business, the three of them continued on to the next location.
The next one is a clothing store.
Zuli and Sofia found some clothes that fit them, as well as underwear, socks, and shoes.
Zurich's socks can now stand upright without falling over. They should have been replaced a long time ago.
The main customers here are logging camps, so the items sold are simple-colored, sturdy, and durable clothes, which suits Zuli and his group perfectly.
Especially those shoes with steel plates inside, so they can withstand stepping on nails without any problems—those are really good stuff.
