Chapter 111 Peeling Ginger
Chapter 111 Peeling Ginger
On her way back, Yu Heng stopped at the supermarket in her neighborhood.
I strolled around the vegetable section, intending to buy some groceries, when I suddenly spotted a stack of ginger.
On a whim, he walked over and prepared to take two.
He bought some more groceries, and Yu Heng paid the bill and left the supermarket carrying the bags.
I got home a little after two o'clock.
It's the weekend, and Qin Lu usually brings Qin Ya over a little later, so there's at least another hour or so.
enough.
"You went to the supermarket?" Bai Xinran asked as he came in, taking the bag from him.
"Yes, I also bought ginger," Yu Heng said.
"Okay, I'll put the vegetables in the refrigerator." Bai Xinran carried the bag and walked towards the kitchen.
"I'll need the ginger in a bit," Yu Heng instructed.
"Huh?" Bai Xinran was taken aback. "Are you making ginger tea?"
"Yes," Yu Heng smiled, "ginger tea."
"Huh?" Bai Xinran was taken aback, realizing that his last word was not in the second tone, but in the first tone.
"Haha," Yu Heng said, changing into slippers and walking over. "Go put the vegetables away first."
Bai Xinran pursed her lips, turned around, and opened the refrigerator door.
She placed the vegetables in one by one, moving more slowly than usual, almost as if she was stalling for time.
Yu Heng leaned against the kitchen doorframe, looking at her: "Nervous?"
Bai Xinran closed the refrigerator door and turned around.
"A little," she said truthfully. "I haven't... tried it."
"That's why we need to start with something simple," Yu Heng said. "Let me prepare the ginger."
Bai Xinran nodded and stood to one side.
Yu Heng pulled a fruit knife from the knife rack and took out a piece of ginger from the plastic bag.
The blade scraped across the ginger skin, and Bai Xinran took half a step forward, her eyes fixed on his hand.
Yu Heng has long fingers and a very steady grip on the knife.
Bai Xinran turned around, opened the cabinet, and took out a white porcelain plate.
Yu Heng placed the peeled ginger on a plate, then turned on the tap to rinse the knife, shook off the water, and put it back in the knife holder.
"Let's go to the living room," Yu Heng smiled. "Get ready yourself, I'll go upstairs for a bit."
Bai Xinran walked into the living room and began to take off her clothes. Yu Heng went upstairs to his room and took out a small suitcase from the closet.
This is what he brought from his dorm room.
-
An hour later, Bai Xinran sat up from the sofa.
"Hmm..." Bai Xinran frowned, "Could I ask you for a favor..."
"What?" Yu Heng asked.
"How about we broadcast normally tonight? If we keep broadcasting like this, I won't be able to keep going." Bai Xinran kept observing Yu Heng's expression as she spoke, afraid that he would get angry and she would refuse his order.
"Hmm..." Yu Heng thought for a moment, "Alright, let's broadcast as usual tonight."
"Thank you!" Bai Xinran smiled, got off the sofa, and said, "I'm going to take a shower and then I'll go live in a bit!"
-
On Monday morning, Yu Heng was woken up by Bai Xinran, but he didn't get out of bed.
"I'm not going to class this morning," Yu Heng said to Bai Xinran. "I'm going to look at apartments. You can have some breakfast and go ahead."
"Ah," Bai Xinran nodded, "then I'll go down first."
Yu Heng rolled over, picked up his phone, and sent a WeChat message to Qin Lu.
"Advisor, I need to ask for leave this morning to go look at rental apartments."
Two minutes later, Qin Lu replied, "Okay."
Just three words. Yu Heng smiled as he looked at his phone screen.
Last night, Wang Hai told him that the landlord was free today and arranged to view the apartment at 10 a.m., and then gave him the landlord's phone number.
Yu Heng left the villa and walked towards the other end of the residential area.
He'd lived in this neighborhood for over a month, but hadn't really explored it thoroughly.
The house was located further inside, about five or six rows away from his apartment, but the layouts were all the same.
When Yu Heng arrived, he saw that someone was already standing at the door.
It was a woman, who looked to be under thirty. She was wearing a long trench coat and ankle boots, her hair pulled back, revealing small pearl earrings on her ears.
Judging from her clothing and appearance, she is a very professional woman.
Seeing Yu Heng approaching, she smiled and asked, "Are you here to look at apartments?"
"Yes, it's me." Yu Heng walked over. "Are you the landlord?"
"I guess so," she smiled. "This house belongs to my mother. She had something to do today, so I came in her place."
Chen Wanting took out her keys from her bag and opened the door: "Come in and have a look. The house is regularly cleaned, so it's quite tidy."
Yu Heng followed her inside. The layout of the living room was almost the same as the one he was currently living in, but with less furniture, making it feel more spacious.
Sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, revealing fine dust particles floating in the air.
"The renovation was done a few years ago, and hardly anyone has lived here." Chen Wanting walked to the window. "This house was for my younger sister to live in while she was studying. It's been empty since she graduated."
Yu Heng wandered around the living room, then went to check the kitchen and bathroom.
It's really clean, with water and electricity connected. It can be used after a little tidying up.
"You rented this house for..." Chen Wanting turned around and leaned against the windowsill to look at him.
"I set up a small studio with a few classmates," Yu Heng said. "We do live streaming, and the dorms aren't convenient, so we thought we'd rent a place outside."
"Live streaming?" Chen Wanting raised an eyebrow. "That industry is pretty hot right now."
"Yes, we're now in the era of live streaming for everyone," Yu Heng said.
"There are quite a few female live streamers now," Chen Wanting smiled. "Many of our hospital's recent clients are female live streamers."
Yu Heng's heart skipped a beat: "You work at... a cosmetic surgery clinic?"
"Yes, how did you know?" Chen Wanting asked.
"Haha, female anchors make up a significant portion of the cosmetic surgery community," he said, looking at Chen Wanting. "We might even be able to collaborate in the future."
If a female anchor goes to the hospital, it's most likely either for a gynecological problem or for plastic surgery.
Chen Wanting seemed a little confused: "Cooperation? How do we cooperate?"
"If any of the streamers I have signed contracts with want to get minor cosmetic procedures or skincare treatments, I can recommend them to you," Yu Heng said casually. "You can offer your streamers appropriate discounts, and as for our company... if you're interested, we can discuss it in detail later."
In fact, this kind of collaboration between live streaming companies and medical aesthetic institutions is quite common nowadays.
Moreover, most of them are predatory loans, such as medical aesthetic loans. Yu Heng could also do that, but he felt that it was too unethical.
"Sure," she nodded. "Then add me on WeChat, and we can talk about the details later."
Yu Heng took out his phone and scanned Chen Wanting's QR code.
Chen Wanting accepted the friend request and sent her name and phone number. Yu Heng then sent his name and number as well.
"Regarding the rent..." Chen Wanting steered the conversation back to the main point, "My mom said it's four thousand a month, with a deposit of one month's rent and three months' rent paid upfront. Can you accept that?"
"Can you make it cheaper?" Yu Heng asked. "I can place the order today."
"Then let's go with three thousand five. If we're going to work together, a few hundred won't make a difference. I'll make the decision for my mom," Chen Wanting said, putting her phone back in her bag. "If there are no problems, shall we sign?"
"No problem! Sign it."
