Chapter 17 Xueyun, Unnoticed by Anyone
Chapter 17 Xueyun, Unnoticed by Anyone
Although he had been in a relationship with Minatozaki Sana for nearly ten years in his previous life, Jung Do-hoon and Mina were actually just acquaintances, not even friends.
Upon careful recollection—
It seems that all he remembers is that after he decided to break up with Minatozaki Sana, Mina talked to him once, hoping that Jung Do-hoon would break up cleanly and not have any more entanglements and breakups with Minatozaki Sana. Other than that, there is nothing worth mentioning.
So when Mina appeared at the door, Jung Do-hoon had a vague feeling that she had come because of Sana Minatozaki, but he quickly dismissed the thought.
After all, this life is different from the previous one.
"Hello, both of you," Jung Do-hoon said, glancing past Mina as he handed the cleaned insulated container to Seol-yoon behind her. "Thank you so much for the hangover soup yesterday, and thank you to your manager."
"Recruitment officer, thank you so much for flying all the way to Indonesia for our passports. This is what my manager and I should do." The girl hugged the insulated box with both hands and recited it quickly, almost like she was reciting lines. After speaking, she looked at Mina for help.
It seems this girl is really afraid of interacting with strangers; she even needs an older person to accompany her when she goes to get something.
As for what Xueyun actually said, she spoke so fast that Zheng Daoxun didn't quite catch it.
Although he didn't intend to chat much with the two women in front of him, perhaps it was a professional habit of a diplomat, but Zheng Daoxun was not used to awkward silences.
"Have you two had breakfast? Breakfast will stop being served at ten o'clock." He glanced down at his watch.
"Not yet, Dohoon-ssi? You're not busy with work this morning, are you?" Mina crossed her arms and spoke in a lazy tone. She tiptoed over Jung Dohoon's shoulder to look into the room, where the laptop on the desk was already open.
"We'll heat up the hangover soup and have it for breakfast." As soon as Zheng Daoxun finished speaking, a feeling of hunger immediately came over him. After all, the hangover soup only contained bean sprouts and silver fish, which were not very filling.
Why not go to a restaurant for breakfast, which can serve as brunch, saving us the time of going out for lunch separately? We can also use this time to chat with Bae Dong-young about work.
So Zheng Daoxun pulled out his room key from the door and said casually, "In that case, let's go have breakfast together."
He simply didn't intend to actively contact either of them, but he wasn't opposed to it either.
He wasn't intentionally trying to get any information about Sana from Mina, but if the conversation happened to come up with it, he wouldn't mind listening.
Mina smiled discreetly at her junior, gave a soft "hmm," and walked ahead.
While waiting for the elevator, Mina brought up the heavy rain in Jakarta: "Dohoon-ssi, were you originally planning to take an afternoon flight back to Seoul? You probably can't leave now, right?"
"Yes, the highway to the airport is impassable due to deep flooding, and flights have to be delayed." Zheng Daoxun sighed. A mountain of work was waiting for him to get back, and staying in Indonesia meant he would run into Minatozaki Sana from time to time.
Is this an escapist mentality? Zheng Daoxun himself is not sure, but the failed long-term relationship in his previous life is still vivid in his mind. Reason tells him that the two of them should not have any more entanglements or involvements.
"We're in the same boat. We were planning to hold a book signing event in Thailand, but now that's been delayed too..."
A soft, indistinct voice brushed past his ear. Jung Do-hoon turned his head in confusion to look at the girl behind him, his gaze meeting that of Mina.
She probably didn't hear what Xueyun said either.
Meeting their gazes, Xueyun blushed slightly and immediately lowered her head, remaining silent.
How embarrassing! She can't even speak properly. I guess in the eyes of Senior Mina and Secretary Jung Do-hoon, she already looks like a clumsy little child.
The elevator doors opened, and the three of them stepped inside, each with their own distinct feelings.
Minami was pondering how to subtly probe Jeong Do-hoon's main purpose for coming to Indonesia;
Xueyun struggled with what topics to talk about to show her lively side;
As for Jung Do-hoon, he was calculating how long it would take Bae Dong-young to walk from his room to the restaurant.
He had just messaged Bae Dong-young, asking him to come to the restaurant for breakfast.
"Officer Bae Dong-young didn't have breakfast either, so I dragged him along to work early this morning," Jung Do-hoon added.
Mina leaned gently against the elevator wall and replied, "Doho-ssi, I'm quite curious. The passport issue isn't a huge deal, but it's not insignificant either. Why did you make a special trip to Indonesia to resolve it?"
Was she asking a question on behalf of Sana Minatozaki? Jung Do-hoon hesitated for a moment, and Seol-yoon blinked and looked at him as well.
"I've just taken office as the secretary of the Cultural Exchange Department, and I don't want anything to go wrong at a time like this." Just as Zheng Daoxun finished speaking, a feeling of heaviness came over him, and the elevator stopped on the sixth floor.
Before the door was even opened, a conversation could be heard.
Unsurprisingly, the male voice belonged to Bae Dong-young. Unexpectedly, he was talking to another young woman, who, judging from her voice, was probably Kim Min-jung. The two were chatting and laughing.
"Our secretary is really responsible. As soon as he heard that you were stranded in Indonesia, he immediately dragged me to Indonesia. It's just like a Korean drama, isn't it? The male lead rushes to save the female lead."
"It has a really nice atmosphere."
The elevator doors slowly opened, and Bae Dong-young greeted the three of them. Kim Min-jung raised his light golden eyebrows, bowed slightly towards the elevator, and squeezed in while saying "Secretary, Senior".
Mina gave Jung Do-hoon a meaningful look, then leaned against the corner of the elevator, unmoving. Bae Dong-young, being quite large, took up most of the space in the middle as soon as he entered, while Seol-yoon was relegated to a corner on the other side.
As for Kim Minjung, he stood shoulder to shoulder with Jung Dohoon at the very front without any hesitation.
Pei Dongyong is quite capable, but he loves to chatter too much. Zheng Daoxun sighed softly.
However, just like in a Korean drama, after being reborn, he decides to focus all his energy on his work, but is still pushed by the inertia of time and space to reunite with his ex-girlfriend.
"This morning is quite lively." Bae Dong-young added with a smile, "Winter and I were just talking about you, saying you really look like the male lead in a Korean drama."
"The secretary's looks are really suitable for acting in dramas. He's more suitable for playing the male lead than Ji Chang-wook and Lee Soo-hyuk."
Kim Minjung stared intently at Jung Dohoon, completely oblivious to the strange looks his words and demeanor elicited from the other people in the elevator.
Mina's lips curled up slightly, with a hint of "watching the show," while Seol-yoon glanced at her senior, Kim Min-jung, with a conflicted yet somewhat admiring look.
However, the Busan city government has always hoped to appoint a Busan-born entertainer as the Expo's promotional ambassador, and they are not very satisfied with Yoo Ji-min, chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Kim Minjung's speech sounds a bit like a Busan accent.
If she knew about this, she would probably pay even more attention to him. Jung Do-hoon glanced at Kim Min-jung, who was shining brightly alone in the elevator, and decided to keep the matter to himself.
Avoid trouble if possible.
He would never propose replacing the promotional ambassador with Kim Min-jung unless he could gain the support of the Busan city government to push for changes to the Expo promotional video.
"The clerk is more suited to playing the male lead role..." In a corner where no one paid attention, Xueyun quietly said a joke that no one heard.
