Chapter 40 The Boy Who Changed for Love
Chapter 40 The Boy Who Changed for Love
Lu Zhaoye was late in the end; by the time he arrived at school, morning reading had already begun.
However, when Lu Zhaoye passed by the disciplinary office, he found that a heated argument was taking place inside.
It was so hot so early in the morning that Lu Zhaoye couldn't help but peek inside.
Old Zhang was laughing and gesticulating wildly inside, as if he were performing a comedy routine with someone.
Lu Zhaoye looked again and realized that they were indeed performing a crosstalk routine, with Lao Gao clapping his hands from time to time as the straight man.
Just as he was about to lean closer to listen, he suddenly felt a gentle pressure on his shoulder.
"Lu Zhaoye, what are you doing here?"
Lu Zhaoye's body trembled, and he turned around to look.
This was his English teacher, Lao Wu! He chuckled.
"Old Wu, have you finished spending the local specialties I gave you last time? I put the school heartthrob on your electric scooter. I've already inquired about him; he's very profitable. Those two black cards in his pocket are my gifts to you, old man."
Teacher Wu's face turned pale instantly, but he knew Lu Zhaoye was unreliable, so he kicked him.
"Get out of here! Go back to the classroom and study! All you do is make fun of me all day long. If you still get a few dozen points on next week's exam, you're dead meat!"
Lu Zhaoye saluted and ran away.
But after Lao Wu's reminder, it seems the class placement exam is only a few days away.
He didn't think much of it and turned back to the classroom.
After watching Lu Zhaoye leave, Teacher Wu went straight into the teaching office to get the test papers.
"Hey, you know what, that rascal Lu Zhaoye's trick is really good. He has all the witnesses and evidence, there's no escaping it."
Old Wu didn't listen carefully, assuming Director Zhang was praising Lu Zhaoye, so he turned around and said happily,
"Are you talking about Lu Zhaoye? He's been behaving really well these past few days."
Zhang Jianhua and the others were taken aback at first, then exchanged glances with Lao Gao.
"Hey, you guys agreed on this today, didn't you? Teacher Chen just said the same thing."
Old Wu was momentarily confused, wondering why the topic of Mr. Chen, the math teacher, had suddenly come up.
"What?"
Zhang Jianhua explained.
"When Teacher Chen came over just now, she also said that Lu Zhaoye has been behaving well these past few days and has completed his homework very well at noon."
At this moment, Lao Gao frowned. If only one teacher had praised him like that, he might not have thought much of it.
After all, homework is something you can just copy.
But now two teachers of core subjects are actually praising Lu Zhaoye, and these are the two relatively important subjects of math and English.
Considering what Lu Zhaoye had done last night, Lao Gao thought about it seriously.
After all, there are students like Lu Zhaoye who are unreliable.
In fact, as long as he is willing to hand in his homework, even if it is copied, they will praise him for copying well.
As the person who knows Lu Zhaoye best, Lao Gao also considered Lu Zhaoye's recent actions.
He suddenly sensed something and left the teaching office to go to the teacher's office next door.
Old Wu didn't pay any attention and continued excitedly, his eyes sparkling.
"I think Lu Zhaoye is really turning over a new leaf. As long as Wen Ningning from that class doesn't interfere with him, there's still hope for this kid."
Zhang Jianhua and the others couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Teacher Wu probably doesn't know yet, but Wen Ningning has already been expelled."
Old Wu's smile froze, and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.
Does the principal not want to work anymore? He fired Wen Ningning for Lu Zhaoye's sake?
Zhang Jianhua noticed her confusion and offered an explanation.
Then, it was the same scene that Lu Zhaoye had just seen.
Old Zhang chuckled and gestured wildly, as if he were telling a crosstalk routine.
This time, however, there was no straight man.
Old Wu found it increasingly bizarre as he listened, never expecting such a wonderful thing to have happened last night.
After a while, Lao Gao ran back from next door.
He clapped his hands as soon as he came in, shouting excitedly, interrupting the two of them.
"Old Zhang, this kid has really turned over a new leaf!"
"I just checked this kid's homework for a few other subjects, and guess what? Not only did he finish them all, but he got them all right!"
The other two grade directors in the teaching affairs office, as well as some teachers, couldn't help but put down what they were doing and join the discussion.
Zhang Jianhua was also a little incredulous, but his rigorous teaching attitude still made him unable to resist spoiling everyone's fun.
"Lu Zhaoye didn't plagiarize, did he? Lao Gao, don't forget he has a cell phone."
Old Gao waved his hand, his face beaming with joy.
"Definitely not. He can copy the answers, but he can't copy the handwriting."
Just then, the door to the teaching office opened again, and Old Chen, the math teacher, came in with a water cup to join the fun.
"That kid didn't cheat. I've tested him several times in class these past few days. He can not only write out the standard solution, but also other solutions."
Old Wu rubbed his chin and came up with this possibility.
"Oh, by the way, Director Zhang, could it be because Lu Zhaoye made a bet with you on Monday that it stirred up the kid's competitive spirit?"
"I doubt it. Do you think a brat would care about bets with you?"
Old Chen's eyes were narrowed, giving him an unfathomable look.
"In my opinion, it's mostly because of Xu Qingwan, who's next to Lu Zhaoye."
Upon hearing this, Old Wu's smile vanished instantly, and his eyes widened in disbelief.
She suddenly remembered what Lu Zhaoye had just said. Could it be that he had taken a liking to her, the class representative?
"It's probably...unlikely."
Old Chen had been teaching for many years and had never been wrong; he said with absolute certainty,
"We're all veteran teachers; boys this age are prone to making changes because of certain girls."
Everyone present nodded in agreement; this was indeed the truth.
"And look, Lu Zhaoye started hanging out with that Wen Ningning and he never learned anything good."
"Now that he's gotten close to Xu Qingwan, this studious girl, he's started to study hard."
"It's obvious that Lu Zhaoye changed because of this girl."
Another grade-level director suddenly seemed to remember something and offered a reminder.
"We'll find out by checking the security footage."
Everyone's eyes lit up, and they hurriedly gathered around the monitoring equipment, except for Old Wu, who looked worried.
"...Look, Lu Zhaoye was going to sleep, but for some reason he suddenly stopped sleeping."
"It must have been Xu Qingwan who kicked him," Old Man Chen said.
The surveillance camera angle only shows the actions of the two people above, not below.
"Look, Xu Qingwan even passed him a little note, and after she did, Lu Zhaoye got up and started doing his homework!"
Everyone was engrossed in watching the midday nap segment when Old Man Chen was so startled that he swore.
"Wow, this kid can solve problems so fast, does he not even need to think for a second?"
"Hahaha, God bless my No. 2 Middle School! King of Guanzhong!"
Old Zhang went crazy that day, insisting that this year is 2020, the year Guan Zhongwang enrolled in school.
Only Lao Gao stood by his desk, looking melancholy, with tears welling in his eyes, and said...
"Why does this kid do all his other homework but never my Chinese homework?"
Old Wu, suppressing a laugh, comforted her.
"Teacher Gao, don't be sad. It's probably because you're the homeroom teacher."
Old Chen squinted his eyes and chuckled, offering a comforting remark.
"Chinese language isn't important either; maybe this kid just didn't take it seriously."
Old Zhang was completely obsessed; the smile on his face never stopped, and he sat there laughing heartily.
"Haha, even a dog wouldn't do Chinese homework!"
