Chapter 4 Purely Handmade
Chapter 4 Purely Handmade
When Grandpa Xu heard that there were fresh meat buns, he was overjoyed. He loves meat and wishes he could eat meat for every meal, and he doesn't want to see anything green at all.
Upon hearing this, he immediately shook off Grandpa Zhang and rushed to the breakfast shop.
"If you won't eat it, I will."
Grandpa Zhang was surprised that someone else had taken over the shop. After a moment of stunned silence, he quickly followed after them.
"You old codger, wait for me!"
We arrived at the store.
The aroma of the meat buns was even stronger, carrying a warm breeze.
The two old men's stomachs began to rumble one after the other.
Chen Yuan smiled and spoke very politely.
"These are handmade fresh meat buns. From the dough to the filling, everything is made by myself. I guarantee they're clean. They're three yuan each. How many would you like?"
Grandpa Xu said with some surprise.
"It's really handmade, young man. Don't try to fool me. You look so young and you can make steamed buns? Are you trying to fool us with pre-made food?"
"Yes, yes." Grandpa Zhang peeked behind Chen Yuan and asked, "Is the filling in your buns clean? Don't try to fool us with things like lymph node meat."
"How could that be? It's truly handmade."
As the saying goes, seeing is believing, so Chen Yuan immediately brought over the unused minced meat and showed it to the two old men.
"Look, this minced meat is made from fresh meat, not machine-ground. I chopped it myself this morning. It tastes exceptionally good, definitely different from what you buy elsewhere."
Grandpa Zhang looked at it carefully, and his Adam's apple bobbed.
He's been in charge of grocery shopping for the family for years, so he can tell at a glance that the minced meat is definitely clean and fresh.
Without saying a word, Grandpa Zhang held up five fingers.
"Give me five."
Grandpa Xu was not to be outdone.
"Give me six, I need to eat four by myself."
Chen Yuan responded and quickly packed the buns into bags, handing them to the two elderly people.
Grandpa Zhang could still resist, but Grandpa Xu was so hungry for meat that he couldn't resist at all. He didn't care about the dirt, and just reached out and grabbed a piece to stuff into his mouth.
As soon as the fresh meat bun entered his mouth, Grandpa Xu's eyes lit up.
"Wow! These steamed buns are so delicious?!"
The bun skin is soft and chewy, with a unique wheat aroma.
The moment you bite into the bun, an incredibly delicious burst of savory broth floods your mouth, and your entire tongue is elevated by the flavorful juice.
The most wonderful part is the touch of scallions, which elevates the freshness of the meat to its peak, and you can't even taste the scallions.
"These steamed buns are absolutely amazing! How can they be so delicious? What's the dough made of? It's so soft!"
Grandpa Xu asked several questions in a row.
Before they could finish speaking, two steamed buns were already in their mouths.
Chen Yuan just smiled and said, "Grandpa, eat slowly. As long as the buns are delicious, that's all that matters. Remember to come often."
Grandpa Xu stretched out his hand and made a five.
"Don't come here so often, just give me five more!"
"It smells amazing! How can you make something that smells so good?"
Grandpa Zhang, who was standing to the side, was stunned.
After the two walked a few steps, Chen Yuan could still hear Grandpa Zhang's voice.
"It's just a steamed bun, is it really that big of a deal? Look at you, so pathetic."
"What do you know? I'm telling you, you'll see when you get back and try it. These buns are so fragrant and delicious!"
"..."
These two old men just left.
Suddenly, a high school student in a school uniform barged in out of nowhere, his voice preceding his arrival.
"Boss! Whatever you need, I'll get it!"
He said with some surprise after seeing Chen Yuan.
"Hey? You changed housekeepers? What happened to that eccentric auntie?"
Chen Yuan said, "She quit."
"That's good, that's good."
The high school student patted his chest forcefully, clearly still shaken, demonstrating the immense psychological trauma this former shop owner had inflicted on the surrounding neighborhood.
The high school student was a chubby boy with a round face and black-rimmed glasses.
He pushed up his glasses and asked curiously.
"Boss, what do you sell? I'm going to be late for my morning reading, hurry up and give me some."
"I only have pork buns at home, is that okay?"
"Okay, okay, give me four."
Chen Yuan quickly picked out four steamed buns.
The chubby boy thanked him, casually stuffed the bun into his schoolbag, and then ran off in a hurry.
Time passed second by second.
More and more people are appearing in front of the breakfast shop.
soon.
Chen Yuan immediately attracted their attention.
Chen Yuan still had a smile on his face, but he keenly noticed that many people avoided him as if they had seen some kind of monster after seeing the sign above his head.
Only a few people walked here as if they had made up their minds.
This left Chen Yuan completely baffled.
Soon the number of students increased.
Chen Yuan noticed a voice, one high and one low, a young voice and an old voice, coming from not far away.
"Why won't you listen to me? Don't you love Grandma's wontons the most? Why are you eating steamed buns all of a sudden?"
"This steamed bun smells so good, even better than your wontons! I want to eat it!"
When the two voices got closer, Chen Yuan saw an old woman leading her grandson who was carrying a small schoolbag.
This child looks like a primary school student.
Standing in front of Chen Yuan's shop, he threw a tantrum and refused to leave, clearly drawn by the aroma of the steamed buns wafting out.
Even adults and the elderly can't resist the temptation of the aroma of these steamed buns, let alone a child.
"No! No! I want to eat this bun! I want to eat this bun!"
As he spoke, the child grinned, looking ready to throw a tantrum.
The old woman looked like the child's grandmother. She had triangular eyes, was very thin, and looked extremely mean. She would spank the child.
"Are you being disobedient? If you don't behave, Grandma won't like you anymore!"
"I don't like Grandma either, she's a bad grandma! She won't buy me steamed buns!"
After three rounds of confrontation, the old lady finally gave in.
She reluctantly walked to Chen Yuan's stall, her triangular eyes looking around warily.
What kinds of steamed buns do you have at home?
"My shop just opened, and we only have fresh pork buns."
"Huh? You only have one type of steamed bun? What kind of business do you run?"
After the old lady finished speaking, she looked Chen Yuan up and down.
"She's so young, she doesn't seem like she knows how to cook."
"Young man, you're not trying to fool me with some frozen buns from outside, are you?"
