Chapter 29 Investigation
Chapter 29 Investigation
"director?"
Xia Xue flicked the business card, a hint of attention in her eyes.
"I am a well-known documentary director and have made several documentaries."
Lu Yuan puffed out her chest and said proudly:
"Fireworks in Xiangcheng," "Early Morning Market in the Port City," and "A Century of Heritage"—these are all films I shot. Have you heard of them?
The professions that can be printed on her business card are all professions she can be proud of.
It has a certain degree of popularity.
Xia Xue shook her head.
She paid no attention to documentaries.
"Never heard of it?"
Lu Yuan was a little disappointed, but she let out a breath and put on a confident smile again.
"Documentaries are a bit niche. But once I make a few hit TV series, you'll have heard of me."
Upon hearing this, Xia Xue became even more interested.
"Are you going to make a TV series?"
When asked about her interests, Lu Yuan nodded excitedly, "Of course! Which director doesn't want to make a TV series?"
Documentaries are just a transition.
The main purpose was to familiarize myself with the director's workflow and, incidentally, to make some connections.
Everything was in preparation for filming the TV series later.
"Are you filming a short drama?"
Lu Yuan's eyes lit up, and she said, "I'm thinking of filming a short drama recently to familiarize myself with the filming process, but it's still in the preparation stage and hasn't been officially approved yet. What, you have the idea too?"
Xia Xue nodded and waved the business card in her hand.
"I'll let you know when everything is ready on my end."
After saying that, he turned and left with a flourish.
Lu Yuan stood there, watching Xia Xue get on the motorcycle parked at the intersection, put on her helmet, and after a roar, she turned into a black line and disappeared at the end of the road, her eyes filled with envy.
"That's so cool! How come I didn't think of that?"
Just then, a long sedan slowly pulled up in front of Lu Yuan.
A British butler stepped out of the car, bowed, and asked, "Miss, are you alright?"
Without turning her head, Lu Yuan pointed to the alley behind her and coldly ordered, "There's an assassin inside. I need to know who's behind it."
A cold glint flashed in the butler's eyes as he lowered his head.
"Yes, Miss."
Lu Yuan stepped into the car, then suddenly remembered something and instructed, "Buy me a motorcycle. I've been wanting to learn to ride one recently. Also, arrange an instructor for me."
The butler immediately nodded and said, "Yes, Miss."
The extended sedan slowly drove onto the road and disappeared around the corner.
Two other cars then pulled up at the entrance of the alley and began dealing with the people inside.
Especially that assassin.
They received special attention.
Multiple restrictions were imposed to prevent them from escaping or committing suicide.
The two cars started again, but there was no one left in the alley.
……
Xia Xue returned home, lay on her bed, and casually searched for information about Lu Yuan on her phone.
"Wow, impressive! A top-notch translator, author of a multi-million-dollar imaginative book, a two-time winner of an international photography award, and a well-known documentary director in China."
All four professions have reached the ceiling of their respective industries.
If the director only considers documentaries.
"Let me see what her background is."
Lu Yuan's background is clearly not simple.
"The Lu family of Hong Kong started their business with ports and now operates 30 percent of the world's ports. Heh, they really are a behemoth."
Xia Xue also used hacking techniques to collect some relevant information about the Lu family in Hong Kong.
"They fled to Hong Kong during the war and, even if we only count from Hong Kong, they are a century-old family. Tsk tsk, their foundation must be very deep. They are definitely not comparable to the Xia family, which has only been established for twenty years."
Xia Xue raised an eyebrow.
"The only daughter of the Lu family in this generation is betrothed to the second young master of the Gu family in Jiangcheng since childhood."
Thinking of the title of the work featuring Lu Yuan as the female lead, Xia Xue chuckled softly.
"The second young master of the Gu family, is he the fiancé who was dumped by Lu Yuan after he found his white moonlight?"
Having investigated Lu Yuan's background, Xia Xue casually tossed her phone onto the bed, walked to the balcony, and gazed at the lake not far away.
"The feng shui of this Jingyuan Garden..."
……
Yuqing Manor.
Lu Yuan took the tablet from the butler and kept swiping the screen with her fingers, her eyes full of gossip.
"The real and fake heiress!"
"A real-life version of a real and fake heiress, no wonder the name sounded familiar."
"Sister Wei mentioned it at the previous gathering, and I even asked around about it later. I just listened to it as gossip and didn't take it seriously. It turns out that Xia Xue is the real daughter of the Xia family who was lost for eighteen years."
"Tsk tsk, how come Xia Xue is so different from the records?"
Lu Yuan looked up at the butler who was bowing and standing by, and said with dissatisfaction, "Uncle Mo, what's the truth behind this information? With the martial arts skills Xia Xue has demonstrated, how could she not have studied martial arts?"
Uncle Mo pondered for a moment before replying, "With our influence in Jiangcheng, we can only obtain the most peripheral intelligence. We need to establish connections here to get the more secret information."
Lu Yuan pursed her lips.
"Then hurry up and get it connected."
Lu Yuan seemed to realize something, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
"How's the interrogation of that assassin going?"
Uncle Mo bowed and replied, "Miss, it's confirmed. She is a member of Thousand Faces. She doesn't know who placed the order. We have already made negotiations and believe we will receive a response soon."
"Thousand Faces?" Lu Yuan thought for a moment, recalling the relevant information about this organization, and suddenly realized, "No wonder the disguise was so perfect, it turns out to be Thousand Faces. Didn't they go into hiding a few years ago because of internal strife? How come they've come out to operate again?"
Uncle Mo clearly had a special understanding of this, and replied, "Someone from the He family's direct lineage has finally mastered 'Thousand Faces' and gained the approval of the Council of Elders. The internal strife is over, Thousand Faces has lifted its mountain closure, and has resumed operations."
A hint of interest flashed in Lu Yuan's eyes.
"Oh, who is it?"
Uncle Mo replied, "The name Qian publicly announced is He Tingzhou."
"He Tingzhou, that's a nice name. I wonder what he looks like?"
Lu Yuan mentioned it with great interest.
"It's difficult to find out He Tingzhou's true colors. It's said that only a woman with a thousand faces has this honor," Uncle Mo replied with a smile.
Lu Yuan pursed her lips.
"Then I probably won't know what he looks like in my entire life."
Lu Yuan casually tossed the tablet in her hand onto the sofa.
"Forget it, I don't want to think about these trivial things anymore."
Lu Yuan asked expectantly, "Uncle Mo, are the motorcycles and the instructor ready?"
Uncle Mo smiled and nodded.
"Miss, everything is ready."
Lu Yuan immediately cheered and jumped up.
"Let's go ride our motorcycles!"
Uncle Mo smiled as he watched Lu Yuan run to the backyard to ride a motorcycle with the instructor.
A middle-aged maid stepped forward and asked in a low voice, "Butler Mo, about Young Master Gu?"
Uncle Mo was silent for a moment before saying, "No one is allowed to take action without Miss's permission."
