Chapter 220 Handwritten Message
Chapter 220 Handwritten Message
Shang Yibo slept until the afternoon, and when he woke up he was starving and felt extremely uncomfortable. He hurriedly got out of bed, washed up, changed his clothes, and left the bedroom.
He was thinking about what food he could get at the restaurant. When he stepped into the restaurant, he was surprised by what he saw. The tables were full of food, including stir-fries, stews, rice, and soup.
Shang Yibo looked around; the huge room was empty except for him.
At this moment, he noticed a note on the table, picked it up, and it said, "I saw you were asleep, so I didn't wake you. If the food gets cold, heat it up before you eat. Or if you want something else, send me a message and I'll bring you something new."
It's impossible to tell from the handwriting who left the message, since he hasn't seen handwritten words in a long time in this digital age.
Unable to wait for the dishes to be heated up, Shang Yibo sat down and began to eat.
Halfway through his meal, the phone rang. The caller ID showed Jian Zheng. He put down his chopsticks and answered the phone: "Hello, Jian Zheng."
Jian Zheng said on the other end of the phone, "Let's leave early, so as not to delay your filming tonight. Are you okay?"
Shang Yibo glanced at the time; it was just past two o'clock. "No problem, I'm still at the hotel."
"I'm already in the hotel lobby. Come downstairs when you're ready," Jian Zheng said.
Shang Yibo was somewhat surprised: "You seem to know my schedule quite well."
Jian Zheng smiled and said, "Because I care about you."
Although it was a kind remark, it sounded a bit off to Shang Yibo.
Before going downstairs, he sent Ding Jiajia a WeChat message: "I'm going out for a bit."
He hesitated for a moment, then sent a WeChat message to Zhou Yanruo: "I drank a bit too much last night, are you okay? I have to go out for a bit."
Unexpectedly, Zhou Yanruo quickly called him back: "You're awake? Have you eaten?"
Shang Yibo answered the phone, "Did you send it to me?"
"Well, I didn't know what you wanted to eat, so I just ordered some takeout." Zhou Yanruo remembered that she had entered his room without permission, which was a bit abrupt, so she explained, "Oh, right, I'm sorry, I asked Jiajia for your room key without your permission. When I went to find you, I rang the doorbell but there was no response, so I thought you weren't in the room and just opened the door and went in."
Shang Yibo: "It's nothing, why didn't you wake me up?"
Zhou Yanruo: "You're sleeping so soundly, you must not have slept well last night. I wanted you to sleep a little longer, since we have to film tonight."
Shang Yibo: "Did you sleep well last night?"
There was a two-second pause on the phone, then Zhou Yanruo said, "I'm fine."
Shang Yibo: "It's a bit noisy over there. Aren't you at the hotel?"
Zhou Yanruo: "I'm at the airport, here to pick up President Hong. Her plane just landed, and she should be coming out soon."
Shang Yibo: "Hong Yun? What's she doing in Huizhou?"
Zhou Yanruo: "Let's not talk about that for now. You're going out now, so you can be back by dinner time, right? I've made an appointment to have dinner with President Hong. You'd better come too, and we can talk about it then."
Shang Yibo: "I'll definitely be back tonight."
"I'm not saying anything more, she's out. See you tonight." Zhou Yanruo said, hanging up the phone before Shang Yibo could reply.
"She didn't even ask me where I was going. Wait, why did Hong Yun come to Huizhou? Did she come with me, or is there something else going on?" Shang Yibo pondered as he went downstairs.
As I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Jian Zheng and Ding Jiajia standing together, as if they had been waiting for me in the hotel lobby for a long time.
When Ding Jiajia saw Shang Yibo arrive, she said, "Come back early tonight, and call me anytime if you need anything."
It was unclear whether she was addressing Shang Yibo or Jian Zheng. After speaking, she nodded to Shang Yibo and turned to walk towards the elevator lobby.
Shang Yibo asked Jian Zheng in surprise, "How did you two get together?"
Jian Zheng replied, "We just had lunch together. I picked you up right after dropping her off."
Shang Yibo glanced sideways at Jian Zheng, "Just right?"
"Okay, let's go." Jian Zheng patted Shang Yibo on the back without explaining and said.
After driving for more than forty minutes, they arrived at the High-tech Development Zone located in the south of Huizhou City.
They got out of the car at the entrance of an industrial park.
Two people got out of a van parked by the roadside: a man in a dark suit and a girl in a woolen outfit. They greeted them in unison, "President Jian."
Jian Zheng asked, "What's the situation inside? Has Zhang Qian stayed in his office the whole time without going out?"
The girl kept glancing at Shang Yibo and quickly answered, "He went out at noon, but he just came back before you arrived."
Jian Zheng nodded: "Well done. When we get out, let Yibo sign your autograph."
The girl's eyes widened instantly, unable to contain her excitement, and then she said somewhat shyly, "Thank you, Mr. Jian."
Shang Yibo whispered to Jian Zheng, "Be serious."
Jian Zheng laughed, "We'll go in, none of you need to follow."
The man asked somewhat worriedly, "Can we find his office?"
Jian Zheng: "You've already sent me the map you marked, don't worry, I can find it."
After saying that, Jian Zheng and Shang Yibo walked into the park.
The park was very quiet, and from a distance, the layout of the several small buildings resembled a chessboard. Although the roads within the park were not wide, the landscaping on both sides was quite excellent. The two walked across a lawn about half the size of a football field and arrived in front of a three-story red brick and concrete building.
Jian Zheng stopped and pointed to a window on the third floor, saying to Shang Yibo, "Zhang Qian's office is over there."
Shang Yibo glanced at it and nodded. "Let's go up."
Jian Zheng stepped forward and knocked on the door.
A hoarse voice came from inside the door: "Come in."
Shang Yibo pushed open the door and stepped into the room first.
The room wasn't large, and the furniture was arranged very simply. Directly opposite the door was a set of single sofas, and to the side was a desk. Behind the desk sat a man, hunched over, looking down at documents.
He looked up when he saw someone come in.
This sudden look startled not only Shang Yibo, but also Zhang Qian himself.
Shang Yibo could hardly believe his eyes. The person in front of him had a face so ugly it was almost distorted, and his mouth was twitching, being pulled down towards his chin by the scars.
"Are you Zhang Qian?" Shang Yibo asked in surprise.
Almost simultaneously, Zhang Qian also recognized Shang Yibo's almost unchanged face, and he blurted out, "Wang Jie?"
The moment those two sentences were uttered, the atmosphere in the room became tense and eerie.
Jian Zheng then entered the room and greeted him casually, "Zhang Qian, hello there, it's nice to see you again, brothers."
Zhang Qian looked on in astonishment: "Jian Zheng? It's you?"
“That’s right, it’s me. Surprised?” Jian Zheng walked over to the sofa and plopped down. Then he pointed to the sofa on the other side and said to Shang Yibo, “Sit down. Zhang Qian is our brother. Don’t be shy here, right, Zhang Qian?”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Qian jumped up and walked around from behind the desk, staring incredulously at the two people sitting on the sofa. His already short stature, coupled with his hunched back, made him appear even shorter.
His eyes widened, and he pointed at Shang Yibo, asking, "He...he's really Wang Jie?"
Jian Zheng chuckled: "I guess so. You can think of him as Wang Jie. As for the reason, it's a bit complicated. You'll find out when you have the chance."
